****PROVISIONALLY SOLD****
I bought this recently with the intention of welding the diff and using it as a cheap kickabout drift car. However circumstances have changed a little and I'm in a position to buy a car I've wanted for ages so the little Volvo has to go.
It's a G reg Volvo 340DL 1.7. It's white.
here are a few pictures
I'll talk about the bad stuff because I like to be honest.
It's a bit tatty. The bodywork is rusty pretty much all over. Not much actual serious rust, just loads of rust blebs in the paint. One rear door is pretty bad and has had a really unsightly filler repair. There's a bit of welding required on the passenger side sill. Nothing too bad, just a couple f square inches that'll need patching before its next MOT.
It's pretty likely that the carburettor is warped and will need to be replaced. I'm sure this is something which could easily be obtained from a scrappy, or perhaps someone like Nev from Driftmoto would have a spare laying around. Either way this isn't likely to be a big expense. The car does drive though, it just takes a bit of encouragement to start if it has been sitting for a while, and it seems to stutter sometimes when the second butterfly is opened. It never actually cuts out though and managed to get me from Swindon to Milton Keynes without incident.
Other little things which are wrong include brakes which are binding slightly, and a blowing exhaust system.
Ok, enough of the bad stuff
The car's done about 101k miles (I was driving it when it hit the big 100k, a special moment).
Tax runs out next month
MOT expires February 2008 so there's plenty of time to get the rust patched up.
The car comes with 8 steel wheels, 4 of which are wearing road legal rubber, the other 4 of whcih have worn tyres which would be fine for drifting on.
I've got a set of 2" Grayston lowering blocks which will be included in the sale
I'm including a brand new clutch as the old one is on its way out. I had intended to do this myself but didn't get round to it in the short time I owned the car.
I haven't received them yet but I'll be including a set of lowering springs as well.
I bought this car for basically £120 so I'm not about to try and rip anyone off. The car has a couple of issues so really should be looked at by someone who can carry out the repairs themselves. The value of the spares I'm including in the sale is nearly £150.
I'm therefore asking £200 for the car in its current condition with the spares included and I think this is a very fair price.
Additionally, I have a set of 4 Minilite 13" wheels. These are black with a polished lip, and are in very good condition (look like they were refurbished prior to my buying them). These are shod in brand new Dunlop Sport 2000 tyres. They do have a little bit of dish, not sure of the offset. The tyres are very grippy and it's amazing how well the Volvo corners on these, with good feedback and a much lighter feel to the steering than on the standard steel wheels.
I know how much these wheels are worth to Mini owners and I won't let them go for less than £250. Considering the tyres alone cost £190 (plus fitting) I don't think this is a bad price at all. It would be nice to see these go with the car but at the moment I'm needing every penny I can get so I'm afraid I wont be taking offers on these.
