Coilover lengths

General question really but I thought I'd pop it in here since maybe one of you DW lads can sort it out for me. So here's the question; Is there a difference in length between an S13 rear coilover and an R32 rear coilover? I've ordered a set of S13 Tein's for the GTS and I'd like to know if I'm going to have to modify the rear turrets as well as the front ones.

Cheers,

Bryn.

Unfortunately we don't have a set of 32 coilovers in stock to compair. I 'imagine' that they will be the same, but I can't guarantee until we get more 32's in stock :)

Well the S13 rear coilover is some 60mm shorter than a standard R32 GTS rear strut when the coilover is wound down as long I'd want to go.. I think we'll be ok with it, I just wanted to know before the rear cage legs are welded to the top of the rear turrets.

Hmmm, you need to know for DEFINATE then dude :wack:.. It's always the way, but had you asked a week ago I could have at least found out how D2 sell theirs, as we had a set of 32 D2 coilovers and the usual S13 coilovers in stock . I pressume you have asked whoever you bought the coilovers from if Tein will tell them the difference? If not, let me know and I'll do some digging :)

If you could find out for me Phil, I'd be very happy. My cage is going in tomorrow afternoon, well the main hoop and front legs will be in but we can't really put in the rear legs until we know for certain that we don't need to change the rear turrets. Would it be possible to swap the two rear S13 coilovers for a pair of R32 GTS rears anyway if we do run into trouble?

Righto, the length of the strut is'nt included on any Tein data sheets I can see, but I think if I was in you position I'd be confident that I could sort the problem if it is indeed a problem (60mm drops not very much at the rear). If need be, you could make up some spacers relatively easily to bring the shock lower I reckon :).
Having half of one set of coilovers and half of the other isn't really possible I'm afraid mate :(, as we'd end up with a set of unusable coilovers..

 Right, we'll carry on as planned then without modifying the turret. There can't be enough of a difference to warrant it particularly with the adjustable height Super Drift coilover. Cheers Phil.

If it comes down to it, we can get the full range of spares so it should be possible to just get a longer bottom mount for the rear shocks. Like Phil says though, it should be fine as is as there's quite a range of adjustment. They're designed to give a -10 to -60mm drop on the S13.
