Comfortable Coilover Options for S13?

Hey guys.

Going to be replacing the BC Reds (V1 Series) coilovers that have been in my S13 for the past 10 years. Looking for peoples opinions on what would be a good replacement for the most comfortable driving experience on our kinda shitty NZ roads. (pot holes everywhere where I live)

The big 2 I'm looking at right now are BC Golds (BR series) and Tein Flex Zs. So anything around that price range would be where I'm looking.

I'm also aware that a lot of dealers selling coilover sets are willing to change the springs out for different rates. No doubt I'll be talking to whichever dealer I end up going with about what they would recommend for street driving but if anybody has experience here that would be cool.

I've heard a lot of people saying good things about whatever suspension they have on their cars, but without a point of reference I have nothing to compare that to. (Are your roads super smooth? Do you actually like a really firm ride? How does it compare to OEM? Etc...)

I'll be carrying on with some more research on my own but any input is appreciated.

Thanks

No our roads are dogshit as well. For road you wanna look at 6/4 springs, if not softer.

The best road coilovers were Apex Limo's, they were BC coilovers done to a different spec.
Apex no longer do S13 parts like they used to, but if you talk to Bren he might be able to help you out, cos he runs Apex and is the main BC distributor for the UK

Cheers man, I got in touch with some local distributors and based on what we can actually get here in NZ I went for the BC golds with standard 8/6 springs. I asked if I should go lower but they said to test the 8/6 setup and then if I need softer later they can order in some in a different weight. They recommend 7 or 6. They also don't seem to sell them with different springs like they do on the driftworks shop. ie, you are paying for the 8/6 springs regardless, then add on an extra $130 for the 6/4s or whatever... a little broken but thats how it be sometimes.

Pretty sure any new setup would feel better than those 2010 BC reds.

Yeah here in NZ they are just called Golds. Kinda redundant since they dont even stock the Reds anymore and they are all gold now. I checked with them before buying to confirm, they are the BR series.

Should be showing up within the next few days and I'll get them fitted up and maybe come back here to just wrap up with a comparison to the reds for whoever stumbles across this thread in like 5 years time or something with the same problem I had.
