hi, I have had skylines for the last 10 years. never really drifted them. been round lydden hill a few times (as a novice)
always driven them as a daily. but come to recent years my partner is wanting to drive mine but we cant get her insured on the skyline.

got a quote yesterday for a s14a. its almost half of what I am paying now for my skyline and with her added.

so with that in mind. im now considering a swap. i have seen a couple in the flesh but i don't know a lot about them.
i was wondering if any of you guys out there can give me a bit of advice when looking to trade what to look for.

i know the usual rust etc as these cars are getting on a bit now. and i know the value of my car cant stretch to s15 money but besides i actually quite like the look of the s14a.

this is my car on swapz

but i really would like any advice on s14as im gonna try a view another one this evening.

Had my 14a for just over a year, daily driven it and it's been a great car, heard mixed reviews on them and was worried about what people had said about the engines blowing on them easily but from what I've seen as long as there looked after there pretty reliable. As above you can get up to decent power with not too much effort and nice and controllable to skid in. Insurance is reasonable especially on the uk cars, I'd definitely recommend one but have a good look about there are some ropey ones out there....

Great cars with a great forum that, if your handy with a spanner, will save you a fortune. Rust is the main thing to look for, sills, turret tops, arches etc. Look for the usual stuff with turbocharged cars. Listen for VVT rattle. Try and get a reasonably standard one (they are out there!) with a good service history. If its had fresh oil regularly the turbo and engine will be good. For around £800-£1000 you can have it at 280-300bhp and more torque on the standard internals and turbo. Although that is pushing the T28 to it's limit. Most importantly you get what u pay for. If it's cheap it's cheap for a reason.
