Daily with intentions

Hi,

Want to start of by saying I’m new to the drifting scene but it’s something that has recently started to grow on me and would want to start learning,

Would like to purchase my first learning drift car and would like some suggestions from you guys,

Got a budget of around 4,500£, the car would be used as a daily as well so looking for something that would suit both worlds, something to have fun/learn on weekends and get me to work Monday to Friday

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated

How close are you to local tracks and your work? What's your background and preference in cars? Jap? Euro? Absolute novice when it comes to spinning spanners or a trained mechanic?

Having your drift car as a daily isn't the best idea, especially when learning. It only really tends to be a good idea when you have short distances to get to the track and your work. Chances are you'll have an issue at the track at some point and need a tow home / not be able to get to work

If it was me I would split your budget over a Euro estate diesel and an MX5. MX5's are reknown as the car that will teach you the best habits as you learn, they're easy to work on, plentiful and cheap parts & upgrades. If you're over 6ft I'd consider a BMW instead or import a non turbo Nissan from Japan.

Estate as a daily works well for gathering parts, and if you get a manual they're good fun in the winter. If you end up getting a towbar on the estate and get a towing license you can take the other car further afield to tracks over the country

Food for thought
