Hello!

I found a good R33 in a facebook group in the UK to bring it home down to Slovenia. The seller is super helpful, sending mi tons of pictures all kinds of information and even couple of videos of the car running, so I could hear the engine. Hope everyone is having such a good buying experience!

The car was resprayed after a front end damage (light, bumper, bonnet, but not the radiator). Car is not heavily modified, has a new FMIC, CAI, coilovers and wheels and a cat back. He did say he was advised to do a remap with these modifications. Do you agree? Will I be able to drive it for a while as is?

Please check the videos and the pictures and tell me if you suspect something. I can not be surprised once I fly 1400km across Europe to get it.

I can also afford the car and actually like it visually. I don't see any flaws, just making sure I am not looking at it with rose glasses.

Good things:
Idle sounds solid (ie no obvious AFM/CAS/TPS/fuel pump issues)
Clutch seems to bite nicely
Engine seems to pull cleanly
Facelift
Resprayed panels
Looks tidy & unmolested

Issues:
Pretty sure he didn't take it above 5k - if the coilpacks are iffy they may breakdown under full load higher in the revs, which he could have been avoiding
Is it a factory manual? Or has it been converted from auto? If it has been converted, if they used an RB20 gearbox then it won't take as much abuse

It will be completely fine to drive as is. The ECU's in these are very picky and cannot be altered (ie chipped / mapped) and tend to lean out in the midrange once the boost is bumped through filter / intercooler/ exhaust changes. The best thing you can do is get an aftermarket ECU - Power FC, Nistune, Link are the best plug & play options to avoid full engine rewires. Also, if you're going to be pushing it hard, get an external oil cooler and alloy radiator in order to avoid overheating & oiling issues.

Seems like a solid car from all accounts

BenRice for member of the month! Thanks man.

Right now I just need to go get it, bring it down and get it registered after paying all taxes. That will blow my current budget. I don't think I need a remap for a catback and air filter either. I won't be pushing it hard anyway on the trip down.

I won't be buying winter tyres, so the car will wait for spring under a cover. Then I will uprate necessary parts, install oil cooler, aftermarket ECU and a bigger turbo. With time. I won't rush this one. Frankly I won't be able to because I will be spending money on tyres too. Looking as good as it is I won't be doing any styling upgrades so the money is going towards the important bits.

I will ask about coilpacks, the gearbox and he will try to do a compression test today.
