How easy or difficult is to re-build a s13 lsd?

think my lsd may nearly be dead, just wondering if its hard to do or just as easy to buy another second hand one? anyone know any threads on sxoc or here that may help(have a done quick search and cant find much)

is there any cheap upgrades i can do at same time? ive heard about s14 diffs in s13 casing? how hard is this to do and how much??

any sort of feedback will be much appreciated, cxars coming off road for 6 months soon just so i can get it ready for next year when the learning curve begins

the S14 diff is better  going rate is £150 for em

you unbolt the back plate and swap it over, really easy once the diff is off.

if you do this note: you'll need new oil :)
you may need a new gasket for the diff.

Cool.
Well whilst cars off the road, rear subrame is coming off anyway (weeping subrame bushes need swapping for poly items) so diff should be easy to get to and take off i pressume.
will have to look at swapping diffs. sound really easy...is there a proper guide on this just to be safe??
yeah plan on doing diff oil changes as frequent as engine oil changes once the drift fun begins

Why? Its a viscous diff, it doesnt need frequent oil changes unlike a clutch LSD.

im not sure if theres a guide or not but its easy

1: disconnect prop & half-shafts
2: disconnect ABS
3: disconnect all oil lines for the cooler (awkward as they're above the diff, you may need to start taking it off 1st.)
4: unbolt diff (2 bolts near the front, 4 at the back) from car
5: diff now off car... remove back covers of both diffs.
6: put S13 cover on S14 diff. do bolts back up
7: chop off S13 ABS connector block, attach to new diff.
8: reassemble.

easy :)

cool steve...maybe not then...ill just do it yearly or something then...just thought good clean oil prolong life of the diff.

ok that does sound easy...looks like ill be doing that then, do you think that i should also weld diff or leave as it is?

whats advantages of s14 diff? presume its stronger and locks better

welding would make it lock up better for drifting ;)

the S14 diff does what you presume ;)

it also has a different final drive making the gears longer (not really drift related, but something to be aware of)

if u weld ur diff up it will b permantly locked!!if u want it welded i can do that 4u no problem, com n c me on sunday,im drivin the black toyota starlet orange perspex windows n www.driftmoto.com down sides!

I have a lovely 52k S14a diff for sale if interested :) it isn't £150 though Stoof ;) where have you got that from mate? :wack:
