There kind of is a reason for it though, race batteries can be a pain when used on a road car, although it's more work I'd suggest a normal sized battery relocated to the boot. Win win, stick it in the passenger rear corner and you're improving the balance of your car, loads of space for I/C pipework and the like, and you can retain a full size normal battery.

get one like this does the job

i agree
most people go fitting red top 25's then have the stereo, heated screen, air con, headlamps, fans blasting then wonder why it keep going flat.on bare bones type cars a dinky battery is ok.

i have a 'waysingh' spec red top 40 although not a varley as i personally dont rate them and i dont remember the last time i had issues (well not with my battery) bad dum tsh.

I use a high power motorbike battery in my S13. Works really good, nice and compact, lasts well and had no trouble powering the DW R32 back at Donny, cranking it no problem and lasted for multiple starting attempts without gaining any charge. You can get them for about £50-60 too.

Did you get that locally Andy? I'm picking up an FMIC this week, so will be needing a new one myself

Any motorfactors will do 'em mate. Just go in and ask for the most powerful bike battery they do. I got mine from a place called Sureparts which is less than a mile away from me.
