.. or Pod even
Did another day at DWYB with my buddy Tom Hutchison. I'm a competition level circuit racer into drifting and Tom is the competition level drifter and the day was a sort of 'skills' exchange day. It worked well.
I'm also a race driver coach and use drifting related techniques in the car control training I do for my race drivers, going way back the Drift Academy days at Silverstone ATC.
I use data and video a lot and decided on this occasion to also include a footcam/pedalcam, like the old Best Motoring International videos which I think make the videos more interesting. Data also has Drift Angle and g-forces which are measured in the data logger by an inbuilt gyro and accelerometers.
My 3rd run. Start a bit cr@p but comes together towards the end.
Tom showing how it should be done and picking up some speed tips from me.
For those not in the UK. The event is a Drift Practice day run at the Santa Pod venue.
The car is a BMW E36 Compact with 2.8Ltr engine swap, welded diff and lock mods. Not the prettiest car there but didn't miss a beat all day. The brown stains are not a 'rat rod' look, the car was parked next to an MX5 when the MX5s cooling system exploded all over it.
