Hi im wanting to get into drifting i was wondering where would the closest place to practice drifting be that isnt on the public highway ?

There's a few local events ie westonzoyland or smeatharpe, but if I were you I'd rather head to Pembrey Kart track or Santa Pod.

If you fancy full circuit drifting then take a pic from the events section of the forum, you need to be willing to travel 3+ hours though.

I'm in Gloucester/Cheltenham, so Pembrey and Pod are pretty much the same distance in miles from each other.

I do both, but TBH Pembrey is way better IMO, and a lot less of a shit drive. Might be the same amount of miles, but Pod feels twice as long, but Pembrey is a nice drive.

Be prepared to travel for a decent place. The others still aren't "close" mind depends on which side of Bristol you are.

Yeah thats why i wanna look at doing proper days rather pissing about on roads :) looking at going up to driftland bash on 26-27th of july to watch, ryan tuerck and stewy bryant are there thats a long old drive !!

Castle combe has a couple driftdays its 30 mins for bristol. I drive it most days.

Since when???

Only drifting at Castle Combe I'm aware of is the demo's during action days. I wouldn't recommend Combe if you are still learning too.

Why does Combe never run drift days?

a) Its not the easiest track to drift, so why have novices spinning everywhere? Little run off will also mean a lot of damage, I've seen plenty of guys with alot of skill get it wrong and Combe bites like a bugger
b) Money, Combe is not a cheap track to hire out
c) Probably the residents as they're moaning ***** although they chose to move right next to the track lol...
