Drifting South

Just joined the forum, sounds great being in Essex and all!! Once my cars been rebuilt and hopefully run in I'll be up for some action!!

Oh what have I done - half the rotary boys here now :D

Gman, your FC should go well but you definatly dont want to use them fancy tyres you have on at the moment as they wont last long.

If you still got the standard wheels id put them back on, because then it doesnt matter if you kill the tyres either.

The reason I got them wheels in the first place was to drift on, but then somehow I acquired 3 sets of 17s lol.

Edit, you should be fine on the 18's, just be prepared to wear the tyres quickly if you are going to use them

Wear out quickly Pah! No worries it's only £550 a set!!

Second thoughts I'll keep the 16's!! Got Falkens on too so they should take some abuse. Unless those 17" Volks ever turn up from Japan (been promised the end of this month - we'll see...)!

Did you kill your tires at Silverstone? What about the drive back (if it rained)! Oh and what if your pulled???

Hardly any tyre wear at Silverstone. Silverstone is so smooth and coupled with the relatively little amount of runs you get I dont bother changing.

North Weald will be a different story, surface is pretty poor there and it will eat up tyres. Last time I was there I think a set (already well worn) in the dry lasted till lunch, and then luckily it rained.

Whoa! my 16's have about 3-4 mm on the fronts and plenty on the back (swapped the fronts and back recently due to the wear on the back). So I should be covered for a day of sideways action.

i wondered what all that black dust was ,thats my ears, eyes and nostrels at the end of a NW day
,good fun tho

Dont count on it. If youre going for it, expect em to last a couple of hours max. Needless to say my first set on my first ever DD lasted all morning and halfway through the PM. The second set didnt fair so well....;)

North Weald has a reputation for being a tyre shredder. You will need a change of tyres!!!!!!!!!!!

Andover, and Silverstone by comparission are super smooth.
