Drifting with open diff?

Hello! I was wondering can you learn how to drift with open diff? There is plenty of snow where I live so car gets sideways easily but does the fact that one wheel is not spinning can somehow damage my car (in snow)? Thank you! :D

Open diffs are really unpredictable, not worth drifting in my opinion, not worth the risk of binning it. LSD or weld it.

No damage, but it will be rubbish compared to what you could do with a welded or LSD

it's no fun. The diff does what IT wants, not what you want. You will be constantly correct what the diff is doing. Sure you can try your very first steps in snow but you will need a locked rear axle to do it properly in any condition. LSD/welded diff is the absolute basic.

Just watch this.
The only difference between these cars, except the color, is an LSD. It's not the Enginepower, Suspension or something, just the LSD.

Yeah I would get LSD if I could (but its too expensive and too rare to find here). Also I use my car daily and heard horror stories about welded diff daily driving. I know you will get used to it but still not sure if its a good idea since its 90% daily and 10% for fun. I was thinking about getting 2 diffs and welding one but not sure how much time it takes\ and how easy it is to change it.

Thanks for answers tho :D (Also is open or welded diff better for autocross (If LSD is not a option right now)?)

I'd choose welded over open in any motorsport or even fast road driving situation.

The fastest car ever to lap the Nurburgring did so with a 100% locked diff, as has many LeMans, GrpA rally, CanAm, and other championship winning cars.

you can in the same way you can drink soup with a fork.

Just get it welded up or an lsd
