Yep, you read it right. It’s a big gamble with the season looming, and a very very long way to go with the S15 build. But the Driftworks D1GB championship winning S14, is officially for sale!
This car is road registered, MOT’d and taxed (up until early February). It is however not for the feint hearted. It’s used, and used hard. It’s stiff, very very loud, the dog engagement gearbox with it’s clutchless upshifting is aggressive and clunky, and the rear end skips and bangs. But if you want to step into a ready built car that with some relatively talented driving could see you with a top 5 position in pro level competition in 2007, then this is the car for you.
Just a few bit’s about the car. If you don’t know this car, and want to know more please contact me.
It’s roughly 400 brake horsepower. ( It made 385@ the wheels around 8 months ago). It runs a custom V-mount rad/intercooler setup and a garret 3071r turbo. Power delivery is surprisingly good for a turbo of this size.
The gearbox is a PPG Helical 1st- 4th dog box, it’s done 48 miles (yes 48 miles) since it was fitted after the season ended. It has the billet input shaft, can handle serious serious power, and cost in excess of £3800 built. It allows complete clutchless upshifting, and is the best thing I have done to the car for ages. I honestly feel I would have been even more competitive in the 2006 season if I had this box installed when it was supposed to be, as it takes away every last little bit of worry about the normal S14 gearbox made of cheese problem, and allows you to concentrate on drifting as aggressively as you like.
The suspension and steering on this car, is about as tweeked as you get, it’s Apexi D1 coilovers are damped precisely for drifting, and the supporting suspension components from ourselves include, adjustable front lower arms, with custom bumpstops. Offering a 60mm wider track, and thanks to some more custom work, perfect roll centre correction. There are a lot of custom tweeks made to this car. Some of which I won’t even tell the seller about. It’s been 4 years in the making to get this car to this level, and I personally have spent thousands upon thousands of hours making it drive the way that it does..
Here’s some pictures from the previous season. It’s recently come back from a full respray done by the guys at Little Knocks, and she looks absolutely stunning again. It’s only had one outing since, and that was for the demo’s at the Autosport International show at the NEC, where it performed brilliantly, unfortunately the indoor arena was crap for photographs, so I’ll get some more up of it’s fresh look asap..
It really pains me to sell this car. It’s almost certainly the best known drift car in Europe. It’s been my whole life for four years. It’s done me very proud, and I can only dream of building the S15 to such a competitive standard.. Unfortunately I will not be able to build the S15 how I want unless we sell the S14.
