Just a quicky, the Ultimate 4 point 3" FIA harness ?

are they street/road legal. or for track use only.

Noticed some say "road legal" and look to have a seatbelt style buckle. rather than the aircraft style.

Cheers in advance :)

Officially to be road legal they have to have a red push button release, and they don't. But we've never had a problem with it on any of our cars using them.

I thought for an MOT you needed to have the std seat belt as well as the harness? which would get you around the problem?

Depends on the tester. If they are an arselord you might get issues, but I've had maybe 15 MOTs done on cars with FIA harnesses instead of the push button ones and I've had no issues.

If you do get grief just remove the passenger seat (no seat means no belt needed) and buy a £40 Luke push button harness with E-marks for the driver's seat. Cheaper than taking it somewhere else for a retest.

But like I say, I've never had any issues with getting an MOT on a safety harness which is so clearly safer than the item required for an MOT.

its an odd one, if you have no seat then there must be no belt, you cant just wip out the rears of passenger seats and leave the belt mech's they all must come out,

although same as everyone else ive never had an issue with an MOT station and FIA harnesses, most good MOT testers know how they should be mounted too, its bad mounting youll fail on rather than the harness

the interesting point as i was told buy willians the only reason there not legal is some muppet worded the EU Regs wrong, and they only put in push button and not buckle types
