DW ultimate oil cooler/filter relocation vs eBay special ??

THROWDOWN
Hey guys,

Just wondering why the price of your oil filter relocation & cooler kit is *so* much more than the eBay special's cheapo's you get?

I'm not knocking your pricing, I am asking as to why the price is so different. Is there anything majorly wrong with the eBay version? Or is there something particularly special with DW one?

DW - £444
Driftworks Ultimate Oil Filter Relocation And Cooler Kit - SR20DET VVT (S14/S15) - Oil Cooling - Cooling - Performance Tuning - Car Parts

eBay - £135
NISSAN S13 S14 OIL FILTER RELOCATION KIT 19 ROW COOLER | eBay

Also, how would you plumb all this up, along with a DW thermostatic oil sandwich plate?

Would mean stacking 2 sandwich plates together?

Along with the one for my gauges, that would be 3 sandwich plates stacked lol.

Could someone with knowledge modify this ^ or show me a diagram similar to above how it would all work?!

Although the DW looks a nice piece of kit I would say its not worth spending the extra £300.

I had an ebay one on my Starlet (slightly better than the one in your link with mocal thermo) and will be putting it on my s13

I did a drawing, this correct?

:euge: :wack:

Edit - hang on, relocation filter plate only has 2 take-offs?

Must be like this then??

Thats one way of doing it. I've seen sandwich plates stacked before too. In my set up I am/will be running:

1.Take off plate - Mazworks or Tomei : bolts directly to the block and removes standard filter housing. Has plugs for gauge senders.
2.Thermostatic Relocation plate: Filter bolts up, has 4 ports - out and in between plate and relocation, then out and in from relocation to cooler. Also has plugs for senders.
3.Cooler.

You might find your relocation plate has ports for your senders so you can do away with the sandwich plate at the block.

There's nothing wrong with stacking sandwich plates. Here's a setup I did on someones car few months back.

iirc is the parts shop max remote filter setup coming from the block. DW hoses out to the the rest of the PSM relocation then a mocal thermostatic sandwich plate on top and some short lengths of hoses made up to the cooler which came from rally design.

Use an inline stat, your 2nd diagram is correct.
You also don't need to stack plates, the takeoff has sensor holes.

You're comparing a very high quality kit, to a random kit off eBay.

It's like saying why buy Peroni when you can buy Tesco Special Brew. There is always going to be a higher quality, more expensive option :)

Ok cool, thanks Kam.

One thing I might suggest then, just an observation really, if I am to spend £400+ on an oil cooler & relocation kit, I wouldn't mind seeing higher res photos first, to see exactly what I'm buying. Having super high res photos on the shop page will show the quality of the kit off better imo :) Just an idea.

Thanks for the suggestion, it's on the list - we're slowly working through everything on the shop.
