Hi everyone!!

just wondering who is going to march 9th DWYB at Pod?

looking for some drift friends and also any tips anyones got on technique.

As i want to get out of the play pens and onto the big track!

thanks!

Just get out there bro! No one is gunna care if you spin out. I bet by the 3rd time round you will be sliding and wondering why you were worried in the first place. Just ease into it and you'll get it. People up there will help and let people know were your based might be able to convy up with people.

Playpens, Kidney, Big track in that order. Once you have mastered the kidney then you will be fine on the big track. Drive round normally on your first lap though to get familiar with the layout. The concrete barriers have sent a few cars to scrap heaven.

Better still drive behind someone else and see what kinda line they are taking

I bought 2 tickets for a couple of us to go on the 9th but have had a change of plans. Selling cheaper than ticket office to get rid. £70 each.

Ill be there, only been in the playpens and Kidney so far so I'm looking forward to getting out on the main track this time round.

they usually send cars out onto the big track in groups of 4, so if you are new to it make sure you are car #4.

drive round for the first few go's to get a feel for the speed/layout/clipping points. Then think about how you would go about drifting the track (I don't mean where you will wave at the photographer/put your arm out the window/etc..) I mean where you need to speed up/slow down etc.. what sections of tarmac are grippy/slippy....

be mindful of other track users and don't do a massive burn out if you spin/sit in the middle of the track etc... if you have a passenger then utilise the extra set of eyes and delegate them the task of watching for the position of other cars.

just drive the 'big corner' until you can link the rest of the track. initiate after the building/concrete blocks three quarters of the way around. use the techniques you have gained form the kidney track to then scrub off speed to go around the hair-pin.

stealth drifters who try to twin with unsuspecting people/novices are the bain of pod as are people who grasp no concept of it actually being a track. try to image it as a banger track/the street/ a track with actual boundaries but with the bonus of run off to allow you analyse why you ended up 20 foot to the left or right of the proposed track. running 20 foot too wide at anglesea would result in you going into the irish sea.

if you are struggling then don't suffer in silence/ ask a marshall/ more experienced drifter. every good driver was a bad driver once.

I'll be there so long as my diff rebuild goes well tomorrow. Only my second time. Had a blast last time, like the guys above have said just get out there and enjoy yourself. I span out loads and all I got was the guy behind me laughing as he went past me. I'll be in a purple S14a, come say hi :)
