Looking at getting a cheap E30 , I know lots go for the 325/sport , but would a 318IS be ok - think they are about 140hp stock . . ? looking at one for about £950 . .

loved my 318IS, only thing needed was Z3 quick rack and LSD . Thought it was better than 325i due to lighter engine at the front.
Buy it

Do they drift ok, i was wondering about somin like that coz thats cheaper to run but i thought it might be a bit under powered.

Yeah, just weld the diff and away you go (dont bother with BMW LSD, its shit). 325i is cool as fook too, loved mine/ours ;)

Mine was pretty good in the wet even without a LSD, as long as it was slippy as it was fine, could link coming out of megabowl on to the main road part, used to go out for a blast loads because it cost f-all to insure and fuel 20 quid for 2 weeks :D
Haven't had fun like that for a while

Oh totally agree with Paz just weld the diff
Also cut half a coil off each spring

who can weld a diff for me ? is it worth getting a spare - maybe one from a different e30 - gearing lower etc ? Also not cutting no springs when new eibachs are like £80

Cool, from the bowl car park to the T-Junction and down that road? haha pimp :D Yeah man, in the wet that 325i Tourer was so much fun it was unreal, so easy to slide... Went shitty after i put that diff in, sadly :(

Oh and even Eibachs need cutting im afraid. They simply aint low enough at the front, ruins the turn in. Aslong as they are single rate, there is NO harm in cutting springs, the spring rate just increases.

LOL yeah Paz thats the one its super slippy. Never had the balls to try in the rolla incase I hit the curb :o
You essex boy geeza
Shame about the BM lsd, the tourer looked the daddy when you lowered it

Hahah, girl ;)

But yeah, they'll slide in the dry, just takes more effort. But weld that diff up and it'll certainly drift in the dry! Thats all the Tourer needed really, that and another engine. :wack:

Oh and Rob.. Lets just say i get around :D

Didn't Paz tell you that he was(always will be  ) an essex boy
S1 RS turbo baby :smash:
Yes too much of a girl in the corolla because i was selling it

E30 318is is wicked used to have on had a bmw lsd with extra plates in it so it was really tight ( its whats in my black ZM coupe now Paz  )

As for lack of power any car will drift its down to angle etc and dont forget those engines are bullet proof and always give 140 min power

Buy it :smash: :p

You would be the man to speak to regarding the Z3 steering rack conversion as well then?
Only thing you need to check are when the timing chains were changed

Julian can weld the diff for you! And chop the springs for you. Or you could buy some nice lowering springs from Moffat @ Zoom Motorsport. 318 is's I've driven have been like big corollas. Sound just like 86's when you're on the limit with them. Whats all this about Z3 racks? Ive never found a BMW rack to be shite? Do tell Alex...thinking of getting an E30 as a daily driver. Do I need a Z3 rack too?

Throw some 60 mm lowing springs on it and it will be low enough,
James the Z3 steering rack is a quick rack 2.7 turns lock to lock where as the E30 one 3.5 normally, what about a E36 M3 rack 2.5 turns lock to lock?

Anythink you need either myself or julian will be able to sort you out, springs i normally hold in stock.

Hey John,

PM me if you can get me a 318 or 325 for a good price. As you know I'm skint, but I'm sure we could do a deal on your website :) :) hehe! Got my 86 MOT'd today! Was a bit of a struggle but got there in the end. Got back from Julians in 35minutes flat. Few nice 3rd gear drifts too ;)

I'm not sure about a 318is but i love my 325i SE. I'm just about to order some suspension actually (probably tomorrow), i was going to go for a Spax PSX kit, preferbly with 60mm drop on the front and 40mm on the back. That should be low enough i reckon. Any recomendations of cheap places to get it would be appreciated.
