E30 Suspension Advice Needed

As its coming up to Christmas people have started asking what i want, and i figured the thing i want most is some suspension bits for my car. The thing is i'm not sure what parts would be best, and i can't afford fancy Leda Coilovers.

I have heard that some of the E30 racers go for Spax PSX, which are adjustable shocks with matched springs, but i have also heard Koni shocks and H&R springs are a good match. I know Julian uses Bilsteins, although i have no idea which ones. Has anyone got an experience/ideas/suggestions, plus tips of where to get the cheapeast are appreciated! :D

Well as has been said before, go for the best, good brand product you can and you'll be happy I'm sure.

I can only say good things about my Spax PSX setup, it's HARD, awesome dorifto spec. My mate seemed to like it too when he drove the 525. :) I imagine the E30 setup would be equally as good, not the best on the market, but good value.

My brother owns an E30M3, and I know that Eibach / Bilstein are constantly raved about on the BMW club forum, although this is for normal fast road purposes so probably too soft for pure drift spec.

I had a Spax PSX kit on my old Civic, and it was extremely hard! Amazing on track, but too much for our battered roads :wack:

Yeah eibachs are pretty soft I think, but Bilstein shocks are ace.

With the shocks wound up the spax kit is way too hard (in a good way... :wack: I run full hard all the time), with them wound down a bit it's just about tolerable but still planted.

I'm sticking a H&R Cup Kit into my E36 ... Weitec and KW are also reccommended names that I was looking into ..

KW are a popular choice with the Euro boys, but they're not that cheap?

I think the spax kit is ~£300, if you go for the kit with the least lowering then you can always chop the springs a bit to stiffen it up too. :wack:

Cheers for the advice guys, looks like the Spax kit is the way to go then. The drop on it is quite big, 60mm front and 40mm back so i assume i'm going to get loads of nasty camber issues, is there anywhere that makes cheap top mounts, rear arms etc?

I have KW Fahrwerk on my E30, with 60/40mm. I replaced the back springs with Koni ones, as the KW are too short for the MOT.

Best thing is to go for 60/40mm lower suspension and premium brand. Anything will do. Try Ebay.de, maybe lucky there!
