Morning all,

So recently I bought this beast, Full BDC Spec E34 540i.
This is my first time out in the car at SantaPod, I'm hoping to compete in RDC next month the day after my 21st Birthday as it's been an ambition of mine to compete ASAP. I didn't think my first outing went too badly. The car is a mental step up from an E36 325i it is so nice to drift with proper suspension and set up.

My little edit together...

Comments and tips welcome :)
Hope to also be at SantaPod on the 18th of June if I can get a ticket.....

I was out on the track taking pictures when you did some runs. Really original camera angle, I spotted the gopro being held out of the window and wondered what was going on :P

Awesome video :)

Looks like fun, car seems to go well! Wish they were cheaper over here.

For low speed stuff, especially when coming into tighter corners and your on the HB and changing down, bring the revs up more when you dump 2nd, and drop it a little earlier to keep momentum up. Just be prepared to counter a bit more.

Thanks for comments guys.

BenRice, I know what you mean. On that video everything's looks 4 time slower than reality. Having to stop such a heavy car for that corner and get it round tends to lose a lot of momentum hence the shallow exiting engle to try and build speed back up. I was trying to keep as tight as possible to inner cones to practice placing the car whilst not under power Ie clutch in and on foot brake etc.

Looks like I'm barely moving coming out that tight corner in the video though !

Nailed a few entries into it without handbrake just the footbrake to slow down. I will have that dialled next time and probably keep it in third the whole way around.

Yeah heavier cars are so much harder to place where you want to, easier to "keep out" and catch due to lazier switches but harder to change line once their fat arses have some momentum up.

Surprised that for 3rd gear stuff they dont make you wear helmets over there, very jealous.

Is the surface quite bumpy or do you just have heavy springs in it?
