e36 328i or e30 325i ???

looking for a first drifter but something thats going keep up with my mates hot hatches aswel, stuck between e36 328i or e30 325i pros and cons of both ?? or any other suggestions for around the same price ?
 
why again? There both good.
E36 is a little bit more stable at the rear end. Which is good at higher speeds. E30 has a different rear axle (E36 Compakt as well) which makes them more spinhappy. Both is fun.
E30 is lighter but more expensive to get a good one without metal cancer. :)
 
thanks for the reply the reason im asking these questions is i want to make the right decision first time, as a student i dont have the money to mess around modding something im going be disappointed and want to step up from in a years time.
 
also the 328i is more tunable on a budget the m20 in an e30 tends to lean out of upgrades and gets expensive to tune unless your happy with spannering and overboring engines.
better of both worlds on that front is an m52 converted e30 but second hand value of an e30 is massive in comparison to an e36.
if i was to do it all again id pic an e36 as appose to the moneypit e30 i currently have, seat time is more important than build time.
 
I'd go E36 all day long especially if you're on a budget, 'decent' E30s seem to command massive money and an almost skid ready E36 325/8 can be had for not a huge amount over a grand.
 
Cheers guys seems like an e36 328 is a great choice all round. just see so many of them around i wondered if there was anything slightly different. i really like the idea of an e30 drifter but guess ill have to save up for that one !!
