e36 anti roll bar question

Hi!

I was looking for some anti roll bar upgrade to my 325i, without going the adjustable eibach, etc., way. On realoem I found this:

316i, 318i, 318is: stock 23,5mm in front, 15mm rear. M-tech arbs: 26mm, 18mm.

325i, 328i: stock front 24mm, rear 15mm. M-tech arbs: 25,5mm, 18mm.

My question is: are the 26mm arbs stiffer than my 24mm stock? It's weird seeing them on a 316i.. The engine is much lighter too, so it isn't reasonable. Or should I bin the idea and save up for adjustables? The first idea would cost about 30 pounds.

Thanks in advance!

I never upgraded mine, but only read good comments about upgrading to the 26mm ones.

If you can get the thicker ARB and rubbers etc for cheap money, than why not!

from my experience with ARB's on other cars i have found out that a small increase in diameter is a big increase in stiffness. i see the difference between the small engined ARB's is similar to that on the std sierras that im used to so it should give about the same difference in stiffness:)

i also think you can get away with softer, more comfortable springs if your ARB's are stiffer.

Thanks sierradrifter! I'll buy than the ARB's. If someone is intereseted in the differences, please post here, I'll let you know, how it feels after the install.

OK so my M3 ones are apparently 22.5mm thick. Maybe I'm stupid but I was assuming seeing as my 'M' car is supposed to be uprated it would have thicker arbs?

However the rears are 19mm which of course are bigger.

The ARB's on the M3 have other mounting points on front (on the struts). So they aren't the same. They are supposed to be stiffer with the thinner diameter too.

Yea Ive been looking into this as Im reshelling my M3 at the moment. Thats why I'm interested as to weather its worth changing over the ARB's. The M3 ones mount on the struts and the non M ones on lower arms.
