e36 transitioning problem

Hi all I have a e36 compact and and at my last track day it stopped self steering when I was transitioning I had to manually turn the steering wheel any advice would much appreciated

spec of the car is
e36 318ti compact
e46 lower arms
adjustable top mounts
4mm rack spacers
ebay Coilovers
Solid engine mounts

It could be as simple as the belt that drives the pump slipping and not performing , If I remember correctly it only has one belt , check its not slack before you start spending money
 
Having solid mounts, it's would be the aluminium support that the mount sits in and attaches to the engine that would have broke.
 
Had this on my e36, the seals in the rack popped, good second hand rack and all is good!
Good excuse to fit a Z3 rack ;)
 
Right if had the car on the ramp now and the engine mounts are still good there is no power steering leaks and the belt that runs the power steering is good to so going to put a new rack on it
