E36 weight saving

What if anything can be cut away from an E36, once the usual weight stripping has happened??

Why bother going that far? Just enter faster. You can always lose your boot lid they weigh shit loads. I have seen boot floors cut out as well.

Poly windows etc.

In my 325i I moved the mentally heavy battery from the boot to behind drivers seat mounted in a fibreglass battery box.

Easily done as cable comes from the front of the car anyway !

I am adamant it made a difference to the way the car drifted, obviously 10kg directly off the axle.

I had all my stock glass on my coupe with battery moved etc and that was pretty lightweight on the rear axle.

It more than likely did. Any weight you can move from outside the axles to between the axles will reduce moment of inertia i.e the car will rotate quicker, and give you more total downforce over all 4 wheels. Ontop of that if you can move any weight lower within the car you can increase roll and pitch stiffness.

Replacing the sunroof for sheet metal is a good shout too.

Is there any benefit from cutting out the boot floor??

As far as weight saving not really, IMO not much weight in it.
I cut mine out so I can remove the diff without dropping the subframe. Without the spare wheel well, you can slide the diff straight back out.

Is urs a coupe? I have never needed to drop the subframe on my coupe to get the diff out.

no but to get to the passenger side 18mm diff backplate bolt is a faff with the spare wheel well still in situ, so removing it can save precious moments at a drift day if you blow your diff to bits and have a spare.
skin the bootlid the bonnet remove sunroof or as said earlier enter faster ;)

As above the sun roof and mech is very heavy on most cars, replacing that with some thin sheet metal will save a good amount of weight! Its high up which helps a lot too.
