E36

Hi All,

Looking to get into an E36 soon, either compact or saloon but it's a bit of a minefield it what to look for at the moment.

I see alot of people engine swapping them to the bigger engines and medium diff and manual box conversions but not sure which manual box people go for? Is it worth turbo'ing these or is the 2.8 good enough out the box?

Are there any real "must haves" on these which make the car better for drifting. There's alot of 318s about. i don't mind doing the work but would be decent to know what to check for to save some pennies at the outset.

Also - anything likely to go wrong on these? I see shafts are a bit of an issue and overheating but i take it parts are readily available for these?

Either way - if someone can give me a brief crash course on these and what to look for / change i'd appreciate it

People only really turbo the m50b25 engine as it’s iron block, not many m52b28 turboed cars out there.

M52b28 (328) engine is fine and more then capable for most that don’t compete. Can change inlet manifold to m50 to gain abit more bhp.
