Engine Problem

Hey guys, I've got a little problem (I hope :( ). After dropping in my new engine I started it up and its running really rough. it seems as though cylinder 1 isn't firing. i tryed using a different coilpack and spark plug but still no difference. I pulled out the plug and it was soaked in petrol. its not the plug because i checked it and it is sparking, i'm thinkin may be a bad injector....what do you guys think?? I'm gonna try changing out the injector tomorrow an see if thats it, but if not do you guys have any other ideas on what would cause this??
thanks
Dan

I'm assuming from 'Dan S13' that its a CA, but I'll refrain from comments about the quality of the bottom end etc.

Well... either the injector is stuck open... sounds like you got that covered...
and if changing that makes no difference then its compression test time...
and if that is bad either you have a bad valve seal or a chipped/burnt valve or something more serious has happened...

Have seen melted pistons and BHG cause that b4.

IMHO I would compression test (borrow a tester) it first to save changing an injector for no reason, if the compression is close enough(post the figures up for all cyls I'll tell you) then swap out the injector, hopefully its that simple!

WOAH STOP THERE MATEY

Before you try anything either swap the injector dropper (the little silver box that i normaly attched to the air box or cable tied to the body if you have a intake fitted) or inspect it if you don't have a spare.

Im 99.9% sure this will cure your problem. If so you will be in my debt for ever :worthy:

You can check it but if there is a healthy spark there I would have thought it would be ok. I've never had one of those go wrong tho as its just a fucking resistor! Its entirely possible tho. There isn't much to check, just make sure all the connections and wires are good, if so then stick a multimeter (that has ohms setting) across it and see if it matches up with the figures in the nissanS13 bible...

If it isn't tho you can all lick my bum cheeks in hell for eternity... :p

Let us know :wack:

Already checked, as I tried the spare one I have. They do go on occasion, as it happened to me once. They have nothing to do with the spark though, mate.

Also tried another CAS and ECU, swapping the plugs and coil packs across before I had to make a move. Sorry for leaving you without compression testing it Dan, but I had to get back. Thinking about it now, it probably wouldn't have taken that long. Soz bud.

Just a thought it's just that iv'e come across 2 now that wernt firing on a cylinder and it was the resistor both times :wack:

Cas no offence dude but i really don't want to lick ur bum :dermal: :D

It this the same Caz/Caz? with the red hair :wack: :D

its cool Mitch, ill try and get a compression tester. The place that i got the engine from said they did a compression test though and it came with a 3 month warranty. thanks for the help guys, hopefully its not a BHG.
