Enlighten me on e36 325 and 328 blocks

The past few nights ive been researching m50's and m52's

I know the m50 is the stronger of the two

But what I really need cleared up is what to do to a 328 to make it stronger for a turbo.

Since the US has a different engine, most of my search results end up with varied answers, like the 328 has forged conrods, and the 325 and 328 have forged 84mm pistons, but then people say only the 325 has forged pistons ect.

Ive heard of people putting 325 blocks on the 328, so there must be a difference somewhere....

So what would I have to change on the 328 to make it as strong as the 325.......?

Thanks for any insight

As far as I know mate the 325 block is steel and the 328 block is aluminium. Aluminium block can't deal with the heat as well.

You'll need a head gasket to lower compression for turbo at least - but as above if you're doing it properly, proper pistons and rods would be best.

Do a search mate on some of the states forums. Forged items aren't needed till around 500bhp+

Many many bolt on kits from big names over there do about 450-500 all that's needed is a thicker head gasket and arp studs.

Alloy vs steel block is stupid, sr20 are alloy blocks yet everyone wanks over them. And again m52s can handle silly amounts of power before that ever becomes a problem.

Just timsert the threads in the block for the headstuds and the thing will go on forever.
