exhaust advice/opinions

Right Guys.

Whats the best option for an exhaust system for AE86 GT Coupe.
Mines standard but with Janspeed Backbox (which most of the inside is missing by the sound of it) and it is mighty noisy.

Would a stainless system be best ? Or a Fensport mild steel version ?

opinions below please.

Although, remember, I do like noise :wack:
just to wake the neighbours in the mornings. haha

I would never buy a Janspeed or Fensport again, I loved my Apexi exhaust, fitting is alot nicer on the japanese exhausts.
I ordered mine from takakaira
Or get one made

yeah the Apexi was one lovely, I bought it off Alex

If you can afford go for that, if budget is an issue you may have to look at UK made ones

Im also looking for another exhaust.
Japanese ones are the best but so expensive. I can see the appeal of a Janspeed, ive seen them advertised for £153. Japanese ones start at over £400. I might actually go ahead and purchase a Jansepped purely because of the price

Not all Japanese ones are that much Have a look at the Buddyclub like me and Kenny use they are dead loud but I think it was about £200.

Rallyman - There's nowt in the Janspeed boxes anyway, but they do sound the nuts.

I've got an HKS 4-2-1 stainless manifold sitting on the mantlepiece waiting to go on at some point... gonna match that up to a 50mm under axle custom (pikey spec) titanio system.

If you're running superlow ride height, you want an underaxle system. If not over axle's fine.

I've got a custom Longlife/Powerflow stainless twin-box system (which is pretty good) on at the moment joined to a Janspeed 4-1 manifold but at less than 4kg, titanium is the required sex.

You won't want to go more than 60mm on bore if you want any sort of motion from a 4AGE below 5,000 rpm.

If you go to someone custom like Powerflow, make sure the fabricator is a good one since quality can vary immensley from different outlets...

i have an ashley exhaust which is about 140 from m-p-c.co.uk, apparently this was designed for their rally cars which they used to campaign, the quality is good for the price (nice matt black heat coating , mandrel bent pipes (not squashed) sit nice and high up for groung clearance) and the fit was pretty good for the price!. . . . but it looks crap

any way it gave me a nice power/ response gain coupled to their 4-1 manifold (also 140) most of the gain is from the manifold i think

for the price i was happy

did i mention it looks quite naff? but the police (or anyone else for that matter) never suspect a thing!

Ashley are good and are built for motorsport applications hence they are for function over form ;) they are based not too far from me, and i know jay (AE86 Turbo) Has had parts made through them directly. :)
