Exhaust choice for an e36 325?

Im still deciding on the parts for my car as it is getting a Vortech blower strapped to it.
What exhaust manifolds would be up for the job when there is 6 psi being put into the engine and then once Im used to the power, Im going to take it up to around 12psi?
Its a 1992 M50B25 engine. I know 3 litre M3 manifolds can be bolted on when tying to unrestrict the engine if your goin the NA route, but what about forced induction?

Yes cause they are not a restriction on 5-6psi S50´s.
12psi on your supercharged engine will produce something like 350hp worth of airflow ,
but the supercharger will then rob you of 10-20% leaving the engines effective power output close to 300ish.

I would suggest a turbo as it´s got such a better power level potential.

Yea, I been thinking about a turbo but It would be a bit more expensive I think. And people been saying that the SC route will be a bit more reliable aswell as this is going to be a daily driver aswell :D

There is absolutely no relationship between a supercharger setup and reliability against a turbo kit and reliability.

It´s in the tuning

Would you be able to probably explain me a bit more if you have the time please. Im still not completely aware of all the ins and outs to be honest. But looking at some parts, I figured that a turbo set up would be a more expensive choice. The main expensive step I found to be is the turbo maniflods and as far as I know, I best to go for a cast one as tubular ones dont hold up as well as cast manifolds.

Another misconception.

Besides there are no cast one for RHD E36´s.
I could get you a good tubular one 600pounds.
Look at forced induction on bimmerforums forum and you´ll see the potential.

Ah that makes a bit more sence, I been thinking about that with the manifolds because the steering gets in the way on the RHD cars and i seen most people run the manifolds where the turbo sits up above.
Another factor I been thinking about, is that on the roads in this country its hard to put down more then 400 break unless you got rear wheel drive, my mate bearly manages to keep the 310 break 350z in a straight line sometimes:D

I don´t see that as a problem.

My 400hp E30 managed just fine on 215 tires.

Haha thats fair play. In that case I just need to have a proper go of a fast car myself then.

Just out of curiosity, how hard was it to fit the CA18 into the e30? Need custom engine mounts?

And could you send me a link or some more info on the turbo manifold you been talking about please:thumbs:

No link really, just that it will be tubular (it´s going to get produced soon enough), split pulse if needed.

My 400hp E30 was not a CA18 one, I never got to finish that :(
It was a 466lb / 400hp M20B28 stroker I made with a turbo.

Ah kool. yeaa, think im gona need more poking round to make my mind up, got plenty of time still tho:thumbs:
nd nice! bet that is fun to drive :D heard the old m20's are good for bout 400 break on stock internals haha bit crazy but thats german engineering for you :D got to love it!:wack:

M50´s go 500hp on standard internals ;)

Yea, heard some americans run the M50's at 600 break on stock internals but tbh i wudnt wana risk it. wudnt want my valves to jump out onto my bonnet and do the lambada before i see 6 pistons getting launched into an orbit hahahah:D
but i definatly got myself thinkin wether i want a charger or turbo hehehe turbo's can give a lot more umph

Most of the american are running their M3 engines, 3,0 and 3,2 M50 style engines for 600whp.

M50B25(ARP studs and MLS gasket) are good for about 500hp on a dyno dynamics dyno.

yea, unless yor a crazy scandinavian nd run em at like 900:wack:

yea but i think I want about 500 max to be honest and I wud want a inbetween stage so I can gradually get used to the power too:thumbs:

what do you think of GS-racing turbo units? they seem reasonable price:)

Yes they do and have gotten some good reviews. I´ll be using some HX40´s on the M50B25´s I´m going to be building for 500hp.

Yea, looks nice I think. What would you suggest about ecu? thats been the bain of my life:cry: especially due to the amount of money that stand alone systems tend to cost.
But I found a MBE Standalone Engine Management at BMW Tuning Parts eShop : Bexley Motor Works and Im not sure If that be any good for turbo applications. It would make everything easier as it can run with the original BMW wiring loom:thumbs:
