So the day finally came for the 14s first day at driftland!
Was pretty nervous as well....the car looks the part.....has all the kit.....but the piece of meat behind the wheel hasn't got a clue .....
But! I'll never learn if I don't man up and get some seat time ...
So got the yon 14 loaded onto my jeep and trailer and left for the 2 and a bit hour drive up to driftland.
Got there bright and early so i didn't have to embarrass myself getting the car off a trailer using about half a sawmill worth of wood .....
Sat through the briefing , got stupidly excited , took in the layout of the track , then it was time to finally put some seat time in!
It'd been quite a wet night so the track was pretty damp in patches to start with so ON THE FIRST FUCKING RUN I hit a damp patch and ended up backwards and clipping the wall with my front end slightly
Buuuut all that happened was a smashed corner light , a cracked bumper and a dented wing and bonnet.....but nothing the cable ties couldn't fix .
So as you can see out came the ties and away I was back on the track !!
Happily enough the rest of the day wad problem free !
Was getting faster entries into the corners and starting to link them up !
The car performed amazingly and I couldn't be happier with the outcome ! .
I've still got a long way to go and a lot to learn but it was a brilliant day , I've truly caught the bug and can't wait to get back
Back at home I cracked on with tidying the mess I'd made by kissing the wall ....
Luckily I put my old bumper on for the drift day so had my rocketbunny one waiting to go back on
Then a spare sidelight and a bit of duct tape and she's (almost ) good as new !
Sorry for the absolutely shamefully bad layout of this postbut I've been trying to do it quickly before I loose the notion haha
