Gatebil 2013: Fredric Aasbø drifting his 2JZ powered GT86

It's part of why Gatebil is so awesome. The driving is fucking nuts, but the standard is so high that it's not actually carnage.

Can see what you mean in both of your views, brill driving but if i saw that tosser cut me up like that id clip him and send him into the wall. Pay your way fool!

This above is what's differentiates UK drifting to anywhere else.

Attitude.

It's called AWARENESS whilst being on track, note what is coming up behind and in front.

if they are coming up fast, pull over. Standard track practise day rule, be it drifting or grip.

Don't go to Gatebil then, as you'll be the idiot in the wrong.

What you see in that vid you see all day at Gatebil, as unlike here people can drive, have actual car control skills, and understand their limits, and obey the rules.

In the UK people drive ten times more tame, so its boring as fuck, but cant drive for shit, use no common sense, and dont obey the rules, so there's ten times more carnage.

I have had it before when overtaking in a controlled manner but the other guy conciders me to be "close" and I've had people up in my face wanting to fight me..

UK is full of moaning cunts.

Fact.

All true.

Oh no a professional drifter drifted close to me, on a race track, at a drift event........

Jesus.

Wouldn't go that far, loads of wank driving in front of him.

It's just the expectation of what you're getting on track and the awareness. Everyone gets out the way and doesn't think they're a hero.

agreed, sam holt did a similar move to me at anglessey, i had pulled over out the way to let him past, to be fair, i was buzzing when he came up from behind and cut across in front (on a straight) down to the skill and precision of the driver. i didnt winge and grumble. it spurred me on to getting better

Thats a fair one. Love to watch it. As a spectators point is amazing, but like said above it is down to skill (which I dont have) and if thats the norm then people know what they are getting into.

Imagine a passenger ride with this animal! Sick everywhere

Very impressive skills btw, I have to agree with most of you guys, it depends on the driver but it's a matter of awarness, as on every track session I've been in fact. When the guy behind is faster/better than you, just move out of his way, not so complicated, no need to try and be a hero with that kind of guy if you're not up to the task!

It's a bit sad to write this, but that video really does NOT REPRESENT how this gatebil event was like...

Gatebil have changed its rules when it comes to driving, not allowing people to drift anymore at the "ordinary" heats ( frikjoring), making this event the most boring Gatebil event I've ever been to.

They have only 3-4 drift sessions each day, 15-30mins each...

The years 2007-2011 is in my opinion the best seasons so far of gatebil. At that time, all drivers just went crazy at track, in anarchy style...
From 2011 they got stricter rules, and from this year, not allowing people to skid and drift at ordinary heats ( frikjoring) is making gatebil more gay than ever...

It's just not like what it was... And this video is'nt representing the typical gatebil "madness".. because the gatebil "madness" isnt anymore. in my opinion it's sad.

instead they have "celebrity drivers" driving a couple of times a day, like what you see in the video, but still, the boring shit driving is what the event was like this time... thats how it turns out when drifting is'nt allowed anymore...

you see all the other cunts at the video? That actually represent the reality of the event....
