Geometry settings

Now the world of proper geometry setting is pretty new to me :D

my car has basically:
coilovers with pillowball top mounts
adjustable upper rear arms
tein tie rods & ends

my car is used on the roads alot so I dont want anything thats going to shred the tyres too much ;)

what would you guys suggest as a good setup given the above for me to go and get done. I know I will have to tweak things to suit me and get it set up again later, but Im after a good solid starting point to work from

cheers

Get some toe arms first for the rear and then do it because you will have a bitch of a time matching the toe to the camber if you want to run anything other than nissan standard settings :wack:

After that its down to your driving requirements, fast road or drift ?

Anywhere between 1.5-5 -ve camber on the fronts depending on your tastes.

Anywhere between 0.5 and 2.5+ -ve camber on the rears again depending on your tastes.

Toe in and toe out most say zero at the rear and a little toe in or out at the front for drift.

Seriously stoof - wait till you can otherwise you will end up paying twice for alignment when they can't do the rear left proper and you end up running mong camber on one and stupid on the other lol it looks well silly too !

cant wait either, car will be shredding tyres at the moment as it's well out .... hmmm.... time to wave goodbye to more available credit then :p

S13 I would go for:

Front

2*5minutesish
castor 8*
toe 0*

Rear

-1.4*ish
toe 0*

This is similar to where I started to learn what suited me in the 14. As the weight distribution isn't too dis-similar it should work quite well.. if your feeling brave, add a couple of .'s toe out to the front, but don't expect to feel safe on the motorway ;)

Im running 1.5 degs camber on the rear, 2 degs on the front, 7 degs castor, 0 toe on the front, feck knows on the back:wack:, just out as far as the stock adjustment will allow. Seems quite decent, drives very nicely and doesnt chew up tyres.

Id reccomend the rear upper arms, but I managed to get 0 toe on the rear with the std toe arms... Have a go!
Im running (well, I WAS last week - dunno now after my diversion on to a drain cover!) 1.7 degrees front, 0 toe, 1.2(ish) degrees rear 0 toe. Parallel around the car to within 2mm ;)

My car was on alignement last time who know when, so i went yesterday to a wheels alignement. Best spent 20€ on my car. Car now handles totaly different, handling is much improved. My current setings are:

Camber: -3.00° (used to be 1,6 i 0,7)
Caster: +3.00° (used to be 2,5)
Toe out: 0

the toe arms are on their way now anyway :wack:

you do know its almost a year since I wrote off the 14a?

No mate whenever I never realised ! sorry :(

Whenever I think of your name I just see a 14 ploughing thru an orange cone in my head !

But the toe arms are well worth getting anyway mate as they are rose jointed too and will give you all the adjustment you need without needing to compromise.

Its quite odd how my 14 is going its still just got a shitty bren device, zorst and filter and thats it engine wise :wack:

But its got a stupid amount of suspension mods bwahahaha

Yeah thats what I am doing RIGHT now :) hehehe my seat Al is sorting out from the junkyard but I need a black leather passenger seat which I can't source coz everyone wants to sell em job lot grrrr.

get an s14 cloth recliner so you can get wheels in the back and it wont get nackered and dirty so you wont care about it, that what i am gonna do, if i can ever find a bucket ceat big enough for me :)

Mmm, Bucket :D

Really wish I'd had it fitted sooner, so so so much more confident about pushing it through corners now :D:D

Perhaps the mystical aura of Phatty-ass is still in the seat :D

I have to wonder how you managed to get that tear in it though Phil, looks like a flickknife went off in your back pocket or sometihng :)

erm funny story :wack: they were in my mini, it leaked a bit.. I put the car in the garage for about a month with the windows up, and came back to find the seat and steering wheel had gone mouldy :wack: I cleaned the seat and it ripped the cover, then my keys caught it and ripped the foam a little..
