Getting payed for drifting

Am I being stupid in thinking you can't get payed for drifting? Surely drifting is not a profitable thing

It's basically a sport for automotive workshops that build something on the side in between oil changes. They go to tracks and if they are good enough they secure sponsorship which covers fuel, tyres and plane tickets, to go to events you don't want to outside your country.
