Getting the back end out..

I've been playing with my tatty Lexus on some private road. Can't seem to get the back end to step out quite enough except in 1st gear.
My first ever skid was in a TVR though so I might have been spoiled by the ease of getting that sideways.. and I'm wondering if I just need to go balls-to-the-wall and fling it hard :s

Suggestions welcome.

It's a standard IS200 S which I'm pretty sure already has LSD. Tires are new(ish). Traction control says it's off but I don't know if it can be turned *more* off?

Sorry for lame post. To make up for it..
Here's where all the Hondas I've beaten come to rust in pieces..

I suppose main question to give this thread a point:

Is there a maneuver you always try in a new FR to test how it slides?
Scandinavian flick, handbrake, powering over round a wet roundabout.. etc?

Speed is always pretty helpful, Ive spent many a day drifting a 130hp MR2 simply through going fast and lifting off. Power burnouts are a good laugh and all that but proper drifting usually needs you to be tear arsing about before you start to try the sideways bit.

If I tear around any faster I feel like I'm going to need a helmet, rollcage and a waiting tow truck..

Yeah, get to a track, youll be having proper fun in 10 minutes. POD is best for learners imo.

As mc_bob said, thats why youre far better off learning on the track, much less to hit ........ and you will hit stuff, trust me

More speed. Get a welded diff. A ten year old stock lsd isnt going to be up to much.

And coilovers, ideally a lightweight flywheel. Is200s are slow as shit, a stock one really isn't going to do anything exciting. If it's all you can afford then just keep trying. They are pretty shit drift cars though im afraid

Only IS200 sports came with a torsen LSD. You'll be fine for wear if it has one as they don't rely on friction materials like a plate or viscous LSD - however if you have an 'S' I believe the diff is open.
