''Hi guys you know the front strut tow hook you sell, the gt style tow hook i think you call it, can you tell me if this is illegal to have fitted to a daily?''

lol

so anyone know for definate if this is legal or not?

Only issue I can think of would be like the problem with cannards or bull bars, because of the whole 'dangerous to pedestrians' thing... Doubt anyone would be keen on getting bonnet'd by something that has a tow hook sticking out of it.

Doesn't seem to be anything to actually make it illegal though, and you'd be ridiculously unlucky for anyone to question it as it's there to tow the car by, and it will have been intentionally put there which excludes you from most stuff as it's a specific modicfication, not damage or what-not. Go for it man, it'll be fiiine.

Strange one, I don't know the specifics regarding MOT's and pieces of metal poking out of the bonnet. But I'd probably say it wasn't cool with the FBI.

Can't tell you for sure I'm afraid mate.

MOT shouldn't be an issue. But as above, anybody professional giving you a definitive answer and wanting to be responsible is gonna be hard to come by as shit like that is a hefty grey area lol. Just run it, look cool, get bitches, be JDM tyte, etc... life would be pretty sweet with a GT tow hook. Get in the shop :D

my bad read it fast as i was in work lol

As for it not legal with the fuzz it could be one of those grey areas like stretch tyres etc.

Cool i'll just run with it instead of leaving a gaping hole in the carbon bonnet.. If i get told to remove it then i will.

Thanks for the advice, my old man seems to think it's not legal as Rolls-Royce has The Spirit of Ecstasy on the front of a rolls and it retrats into the bonnet/grill on impact with a person.

same can be said for a Jaguar i believe. i would imagine the tow hook would do some damage to a person if i were to hit them and they went over the bonnet.

Asked the crash engineers at work if it would be legal, hey said no due to pedestrian head impact and safty. That is why jaguar do not have the solid piece at the front. bonnets these days are designed to absorb the impact of a body.

however since the car is older then it may not apply etc.
