So I've owned this shonky Datsun since August now and thought I'd sort a build thread to document progress on making it more snazzy.

It's a fairly standard RB20DET GTS-T and had 98,000 kms on it with a recent belt change so ticked the right boxes there.

It came with a few useful bits and pieces already done to it and are as follows:

HSD Monopro Coilovers
Exedy Paddle Clutch
Large FMIC
Welded 4.3 diff
3” Stainless Exhaust
Dished OMP wheel
3” Sabelt harness
25mm spacers
Front subframe modded to sit rack 20mm further forward
Front lower arms extended 25mm
Tie rods machined down
GTR spoiler
3x Modex 17x9 ET20 (one spare was buckled)
4x R32 GTR wheels

Came with the following included:
Type M skirts
Type M spats
EP Racing 25mm vented wings
25mm rear overfenders (needed work)

It had rusty rear arches and rusty sills but managed to knock a bit off the price for this.

It wasn't too far away from home so went and picked it up and this is what it looked like then.

Removed the bait sun strip pretty much straight away. Here it is parked up behind my old whip my mate now owns.

Love these rear ends

Then took it to get aligned as it was pulling quite bad, problem wasn't really solved but can't fault the guys at Wilmslow Performance Tyres enough. Bought some matching part worns with even tread and problem solved.

Mate helped me transport the over fenders

Fitted a removable steering wheel boss and made use of the third Modex

Then the time came to sort the rear arches out by tubbing them, was a first time for me and Owen doing stuff like this but gotta start somewhere. So on with the chopping.

Which we sealed and stone-chipped and repeated on the opposite side.

Now on to cooler things, like wheels. 17X10 ET22 Yokohama AVS Model T7's. Would recommend JDM Distro all day, Ireland based but shipping was pretty quick.

Owen knocked up a jig from the old seats to make mounts for my Corbeau Club Sports I'd ordered.

Which are perfect for wheel transportation.

Went to fit the tyres, got BCT's purely for cost but they're actually not a bad tyre at all.

Then test fits at Tesco, was pretty turnt up, instantly transformed the car and was sick of having different sized poo wheels. Looked weird with the rear arches in a raw state but managed to win some new over fenders on eGay for cheap so was waiting for those.

Bought a new helmet for Teesside

Then painted the new wings and rears in some grey graffiti paint for now and fitted them.

Took it to Teesside on NYE and first time on track went pretty well, car is more capable than I am at this stage so looking forward to improving along with the car. Got better throughout the day and ended up linking the whole track. Just a shame my GoPro didn't catch any of the good runs. Could do with sorting my handbrake as it's right at the top, I only used it to slow down into the second corner as you come out of the first too quick for it, not wanting to fit a hydro as I don't believe you need them. If anyone took the photos I've used and doesn't want them up here just PM me and I'll remove them.

That's pretty much where I'm up to at the minute. Got some Japspeed Super Lock Tension Rods to fit and some Adjustable Rear Camber Arms. The front wheels seem to sit quite far back in the front arch and there's too much camber on the rear so once I've sorted that it should be even better.

Need to address the rusty sills before it's MoT in April and then I'll be sorting the aero and hopefully get it painted up. Last thing is power, it's not far above standard currently but this doesn't bother me at all as I'm just getting used to the car still and it's reliable as is. Eventually I'll ruin all this with engine mods but I'll be doing it properly and looking for guidance with it all. I want to keep the RB20 and maximise the potential of that rather than swap it out.

I'll do my best to keep this up to date and hopefully you'll see some changes in the not too distant future.

*Typo, I believe that was a mix of "can't fault them" and "can't recommend them enough"

I will be going back once I've fitted the new suspension components.
