how long left?

ok, when a clutch starts to slip badly enough to not be able to continue a drift how long would it carry on working for? would I get it to last until april if I didn't drift and drove like a granny? I realise its not an exact science but just wondered if I should start organising lifts to work now

you could make it last, but you slip it too much you could over heat your flywheel and cause it to warp, how does it drive normaly, is it noticeable?

If not should be fine for a while.

warping the flywheel isn't too much of a problem as the kit comes with a new one. A week ago it was only noticeable when trying to drift, but now it slips in 4th and 5th on boost too. I hate cars.

Can you not get an old used one jsut to bung in to tide you over seeing as you could do it yourself. Thats what Id do, itd piss me off waiting that long being careful.

no way would I be willing to do it myself to rip it out again come april! have you felt how cold it is right now?!?! haha

Its odd it slips in 4th and 5th, normally clutches slip accelerating hard from low speeds, or does it do this as well.

What car is it for, is there anyway you can get more life out the cluth using longer cluth slave pushrods if possible?

seems alot more noticeable in 4th and 5th, if you cruise along and put your foot down as soon as the boost builds up the revs fly up and the car does nothing:(

2nd question, any guesses as to how much it'd cost to have a clutch and flywheel sent from japan by EMS?

Every clutch ive ever busted has gone from 5th downwards. Ive had some slip though, and then a week later they have been fine and worked for ages.

If you take it very very easy you might make it till April. Every time it slips its doing more damage. If you can drive it without slipping it, so no boost and not riding the clutch at all, basically drive like a pussy:p, I reckon it will last.

Oh, its deffo the clutch by the way. The only other thing that has the symptoms of increasing revs but not accelerating is wheelspin. Pretty sure you would have noticed that in 5th gear though.:D:D

not long, mine let go quite soon after slipping in 5th, i spose if you disconnected the actuattor from the turbo you could make it last but it would be wank drifving it like that for 2 months

I started the death of mine at Crail last May, began slipping in 4th and 5th a bit, gradually got worse until it was only usable in 1st really, was slipping really bad in 2nd when I got rid of it. But.....it did last me from May til September like that. I did use boost, but generally when I felt it slipping I'd lift off straight away, and put the power in a bit more gradually. Pikey student s13 ownership at it's best :D Drive like a total girl and you might be lucky.

Yeah you can make it last, but it does depend on the clutch design too. Mine OEM one started to go in a big way 2 months prior to changing it. It took fookin ages to swap it out for the SPEC but it was worth it. Although the clutch surface was down to the rivets so any more use of the knackered one would of started to score my flywheel. If you've got a new flywheel in the kit aswell, then you'll be fine.
Paddle clutches go in hours so beware if anyone has one of those and it starts to slip. My mate had one on his '5 and it went from slipping slightly in 4th and 5th to no drive within 48 hours! :worthy:
