hi all,
this is my first post so hi again :)

I am new to drifting and have got my self a 328 e36 . i am booking a day in essex arena and wondering to know how many tyre and what else should i take with me

the only important factor is tyre and me as beginner, how many tyres will i go through in a day
i have 2 pairs on the car and another 4 spare ones so in total 6 tyre and all of them have around 4-5m thread depth so half worn

if it is wet, would number of tyres required be reduced

thanks

if its wet you will use less tread but more fuel. id take them all with you, better to be safe than sorry

Take all the tyres you can! Kinda like how long is a bit of string, I presume there would be tyre changing facilities at the drift day?

that is correct they have tyre changing on site

do you guys know about the fuel? mine is 2.8 and the tank size is 60 liters give or take , would i go through a full tank?

in regard to tyre, i understand that the answer depend on how i drive and etc, on ur circumstance or when u go, how many tyres do you go through ?

thanks

Essex Arena, probably none but take your spares in case. Fuel wise, you'll be fine, just fill your tank before you get there.

Its a difficult question to answer and one that you ask yourself before any drift day even after years of doing it. The weather is the biggest factor. Best to take as many as you can and see for yourself.

new to drifting - unless you are a complete "natural" you wont be pushing as hard as you will be once you get experience, so you wont go through rubber as fast :)

If you take all 6 tyres you probably will make em last most of, if not all day.

wow, is that 12 a day and how much thread does each have ?

if it is 4-5 mm like mine then i will probably just get through half of the day[/QUO

the tyres are like new.i did 38 in 1 day last week at brands hatch and 80 in 3 days lol :) my 32 is non turbo.

that is mad with an n/a car . that means around 1k for a day

you maybe better off working at tyre shop , joking :)

i always thought 6-7 would be enough but that is way to short

I've only been to essex arena once on a dry day and every half hour, hour they go round in a tractor thing soaking the track I didn't see anybody change there tyres all day except a guy in a BMW estate but he was really going for it and literally linking the entire circle not braking the drift once and I'm pretty sure he only changed once.

What I'm saying is, bring as many as you can but the odds are you won't use them but like above as said, it's better to be safe then sorry.

thanks everyone , very useful answers

i can source tyres from local garage for around £15 for 205 with 4-5 m or £10 for 185 . comparing this with santapod which is £2 per tyre and has almost few mm so last a while , don't know which one i should go for

there is also a garage down here that told me that i can go and take any of their scrap and disposable tyre which they seem ok mostly but have buldges or small ball shapes on sides, would you take them as opposed to paying for one ?

Dude Ask around in tyre places you can normally get them for free. There's two around my area I normally go to and can find some really good ones as well.

Essex Arena cant be the best place for a noobie surely!?

And you probably wouldnt kill a pair there, the track is always wet.

i would definately say if arena essex is your first drift day you need to tow the car there. im pretty sure after you finished there the car will not be in a fit state to drive home. get a few pod days under your belt first if i were you.. are you doing king of the ring on saturday then?

How many tyres would you realistically go through on estimate and how much are the tyres each? I'm wondering how much this is costing in tyres for an average drift day.

All depends on power and alignment.

If you are running minimal neg camber at the rear and run stockish power then probably a set or two at max (brand new budgets).

Try and source cheap brand new budget fuck faffing around with part worns.

Never been to Essex but I see it's always wet there so probably a set of brand new or newish will do fine.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, yes part worns you're just going to have to change them twice as often anyway I guess. Is it mainly the rear that wear out or is it the front as well so are you looking at replacing 4 tyres or 2?
