How much for a SR20?

really depends on condition and who's selling, but very roughly £500 for a good engine and about £300 for a top notch gearbox

fairly easy yeah although good ones tend to get snapped up pretty quick as there's always a steady demand for them. Best bet is to keep a beady eye on the for sale and breakers sections on the SXOC board and stick up a wanted post

if you want a nice broken SR20 engine I might be able to help

haha maybe seems a better option than a 3sgte, I thinking about it today and really you would have to go for a bigger axle as I think at a nice 300bhp setting you would start snapping axles and breaking diffs at a frequent basis.
Got a few other things I have thought of
But I did say I wouldn't modify this one :o Just feels soo slow cmpared with the cossy, I need a go in your car Jay

Alex you can try mine but like I always say its not that fast. Maybe when its set up at 1 bar it will be good but untill then its only ok.

Oh and as good as that Nissan engine is its not right under the bonnet of an 86. A 13b rotary is a different story mmmmm.

Jay

Nah think rotary is too much trouble.
Lee, yeah its slower than a 400bhp cossy BUT its way more fun to drive, its only because I know what a quick corolla feels like that I want the same sort of power.
Think a adjustable boost corolla would be a proper weapon like apart from top speed could be wake up a few people at ten of the best as well as being a good drift car.

why wouold u want a rotory, they need re-building every day,

an SR would be a good engine, but can't u turbo the original?

and wouldn't a toyota engine work better(fit better, can beat nissan ;) )

Yeah it can be done but you would spend alot of money getting a 4age turboed and up to a high enough spec to run say 20psi of boost and 250ish bhp or run a standard sr20 low boost for the same power for less money and less stressed.
Plus the SR20 block is alu so it might be lighter than the corolla, not sure if I am going to do it but it doesn't seem a bad idea.

You can turbo the 4 ag but like I said its not that fast theirs something magical about an 86 powered by a rotary specialy if the corolla is pink.

An NA rotary would work well in a Corolla.

I imagine a stock RX8 engine would be good, 230bhp NA but still not readily available. Should be pretty reliable though compared to an FD engine.
