Captain Muppet
Pro-tard
Hello,
Over the last three years the very nice man from Camouflaged-Learning has helped me out a lot. The kids love a drift car so it’s been a handy thing to take in to schools, plus it’s always nice to see your company name in big letters down a car
So, how to thank the nice man? Obviously dedicating my wins to Camouflaged-Learning would be a nice thing, but as I’ve not finished higher than 12th since stickerisation I can’t. I’ve given him and some of his clients as many passenger rides as one stomach will stand, so, if you’re not in the car what is the best part of drifting?
Pics, obviously.
So I rifled through Doristars huge gallery and dug out a couple of nice pictures. I settled on using the current orange logos (2007 spec tiny stickers look rubbish, 2008/early 2009 has a wider choice of awesome pictures, but in the wrong colour) and picked a couple that showed all round the car for maximum sticker usage.
There are pics with way more angle, and pics taken at higher speeds, but these were perfect for what I wanted. And what I wanted was a big poster that I could frame and hang in the CL workshop.
If you’ve ever thought Ross’ pics are amazing wait until you’ve seen them on a 30”x20” print! Even without any smoke (it's the car, honest) the sensation of speed is amazing (and I'm only doing 2nd gear stuff). I presented the framed print to the nice man who funds my drifting on Tuesday, and he was delighted – it’s balanced on his telly at home!
Anyway, it’s a nice way of thanking someone who’s helped out a lot, not just with my car but with a huge 4 page article in Road magazine (before it turned shit), with a trip to the 'ring for 4-up sideways terror, with advice on the phone when things have gone wrong and with many, many pies down the pub on the good days. It’ll be a talking point when it gets moved in to his office, and all I had to do was PM Ross with a link to his pics, send him a tiny amount of money and buy a frame. It was so easy I did it from 5500 miles away - collecting the print from the post office was the hardest bit
This is sort of how the poster looks (but with just one BDC logo tweaked how I wanted it), until you’ve seen it in 30”x20” you haven’t seen shit:
You guys with smokes, lock and skills could have something truly awesome to hang on the wall.
Thanks again to nervy, and to Ross for excellent pictures going all the way back to my first competition in 2006.
