I need advice for my first car

Hey guys, today is my first day on the forums so I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 17 years old. 6'2, 175 pounds. I'm getting ready to buy my first car without any help from my parents. my budget i would say would be anywhere below $5k. I've been going to car meets and Events most of my life and I love the idea of RWD cars. me and my friends always go out I their cars and they have s13 240sx's. I for one love that car but I want to be different.

I know the first thing that comes to mind is a Miata. I personally love the Miata but there are some cons to it:( first off it's a 2 seater which puts me off in the sense that I want to bring other friends in my car too. Plus they're pretty sluggish due to the 90 something horsepower.

So I need help finding a car that's decently quick, cheap, RWD, and can go sideways. Open to all ideas.

Ps. I would buy a fwd or awd car but again I would like it to be 4 seats and fast as shit or with potential.

Would be best to ask a US based forum, prosuming that's where your from.
Insurance is a killer for first time drivers here, most can only dream of rwd.

If you can get a 13 and afford to insure it then do it (over here insurance is killer with most 17 year olds having 1.2 litre hatchbacks and paying around £2000 which is around $3000 for a years insurance) the 13 will give you a lot to start with and as you learn and get better the upgrades for the engine and car are pretty much endless. If I was a 17 year old kid in the states I'd be buying anything OVER 40 years old! I've got a 53 Chevy pick up over here and need more yank stuff! I know people like to be different but sometimes it's better to look at what works and what works really well.......you can't go wrong with a 13
