Is my MX5 diff rinsed? (video inside)

Picked up a Torsen Slipper for Free, been kicking it a fair bit and just recently noticed a noise of a clatter/chatter when in low revs when I disengage the clutch. Thought it was the clutch release bearing til I found this video which is the exact noise I'm hearing. Have I buckled this diff in record time? or could it be something simple like the pre-load being wrong? One thing i noticed is the metal dampner thing appears to move on mine, but not on that video.
Any advice before I rip it out? - Asked MX5nuts but they appear to know more about stickerbombing and ebay coilovers than anything mechanical.
Cheers.

It sounds fooked, rip it out and open it up to see. :(

Aye I was thinking this was going to be the case but was hoping for conformation from someone who's heard it before. Time to get the open diff it replaced welded up then bash that in. Doubt I'll end up bothered enough about the welder to put the slipper back on.

Is that not just drive line chatter?

With my helix 6 puk clutch, lightened flywheel and welder mine does this ALOT especially in reverse.

Has done for over 2 years now with many times out in track. No problems.

If I drive along slow then dip the clutch fast it makes exactly that noise.

Oh really? The noise doesn't bother me at all. Couldn't give a fuck but just not keen to drive 150 miles to Crail/Driftland for my diff to pop. haha

I thought it could have been the PPF Allignment which turned out to be out like fuck, jacked the gearbox up as high as possible and now I'm not getting any gear backlash dropping gears but the noise is still there. Fuck it if it makes it with your welder It would probably make it with mine. Only thing for it is rag it til it breaks!

Mine used to do it with the open diff but no where near as bad.

I'd say your alright tbh. Even my e36 328 does it a little if I provoke it to by dipping the clutch real quick at low revs.

I think it's the springs in the clutch plate quickly expanding again when you stab the clutch pedal. That's my theory anyway. The company that built my engine said an aweful lot of rear wheel drive cars with paddle clutches sound like that so I've never worried about it.

Also it's definitely not the release bearing or flywheel bearing as I recently swapped mine out when changing my bottom end over just for good measure and it made no difference at all. The bearings I removed felt done and had no play. They had only done about 8000 miles but a lot if track time so I figured I'd swap them out and check the clutch out whilst putting my built bottom end in. No rattly springs in the clutch either so it isn't that.

I don't know if mine would do it with the wheels off the floor like in the video but I assume it would. It defiantly makes exactly that noise and has done for over 2 years with no driveline problems at all.
