It is very tempting with all the goodies sat in my room, but the longer game plan will be so much better! ;)

Wow some serious parts in the last update!

About to speak to Wardy about a nice full V-band set up for my car now :P

Yup, still a few more serious parts to unveil ;)

So as said yesterday, 2 packages turned up today thanks to a good friend who's been a god send getting parts for me. So the first package to arrive was from the 'states. My crank pulley was in an alright condition, but had seen much much better times and it looked a bit tired to be honest. After weighing up an OEM replacement pulley, I bit the bullet and went all out (as ever) and treated myself to an ATI Super Damper pulley. Something that tends to be used on pretty mental spec SR20's so should be pretty fitting here then :p Supposedly better than the OEM pulley in regards to the harmonics, but everyone that I had read who used one can't fault them one piece and recommends using them!

So the next parcel is something that I've been waiting a fair old while for, mainly due to shipping as it got returned for some weird reason in the end but nonetheless its here safe and sound!

Can 'ya guess what it is yet? ;)

Short Port intake for the SR :p I chose this since I'm building this engine to come alive during the mid range so seemed fitting, plus seemed to make some more power up top so should be sweet. The quality is unreal which is kinda to be expected really, the copy inlet I had a few months back was decent but this blows it out of the water and rightly so! Literally can't wait to start getting things strapped on.

Im planning on sourcing an S14 SR20DE throttle body as they are 60mm, rather than the standard 50mm S14 DET's run so should help a tad. Plus, I really can't see a 60mm throttle body becoming a limiting factor with the amount of puff I'm planning on running through the 20g. *cough* 1.6 bar *cough* :smash::wack:

Received an oil drain for the TD06 today, so i'll strap that on at some point. :smash:

used to have a de head on det block in my 14, seemed to keep pulling where others would die out right at the top end. good upgrade imo if you can get cheap

Surely thats down to either;

Cam profiles
Compression Ratio of the N/A block?

My engine and head will be far from standard though :p

Love the genuine Greddy! Nice build it's coming along mate

Yeah the casting inside is so much smoother than the fake inlet too! Thanks man, aiming to book it in for mapping with Greg around April time :) Cant say I'm not going to be nervous whilst its getting mapped haha

I had a DET block man, cams were DE tho but the s14 DE has 248/240 and not as aggressive as the s13 DE cams, exhaust is same as DET, only difference is the inlet cam which is slightly more aggressive but you are going further with yours so it'll have the same effect id imagine

Interesting read, a lot of good quality parts obviously and more in the pipeline from what you're suggesting. It takes a lot of self restraint to save like you seem to have done.

I would imagine a few people are reading this and thinking "i'll never be able to save for that kind of gear" and resort to knockoff parts. I've found quality secondhand parts are still better than knockoff parts and are easier to afford, just harder to find.

I was thinking when reading the mid mount manifold / TD06 combo it sounded familiar. But your specs seem like a cross between and Adam and Joel's car. No thoughts on going VET head and getting rid of the troublesome rockers?

More amazing bits and pieces :D Dude!! Haha can't wait for this build :D

haha :p

Yeah thats it dude! Its taken me so long to save up throughout the year, lots of research into people running high spec SR's and TD06's etc to come out with something I should be happy with. I'd be lying if I didnt think about a VE head, but the cost associated with the inlet manifold, and all the conversion parts it'd soon spiral out of control?

I'll be collecting my engine again in 2 weeks or so, but the head has been rebuilt when installing the Cams, so fingers crossed once everything has been correctly setup it should play ball and *touch wood* shouldn't cause me any problems, but I've probably just jinxed myself now haha.

I did alot of reading/looking about in NZ/AUS funnily enough, you guys seem to rate and enjoy the TD06 turbo, so its pretty interesting to see what is considered essential when slapping the turbo on

In regards to the C's Garage cars, my vision is similar to their engine spec's, maybe a tad more full on as I wouldn't mind pushing the boost a tad seeing as my drivetrain is there ready to take it :) Ive taken alot of inspiration from them though!

A tad more full on than 400rwkw? That will make an interesting drive!

We are seeing a bigger shift towards using ethanol blends as it becomes more readily available. Only really one decent ethanol tuner in the country though, whereas Aus are using it all over the place.

Still, will be worth keeping an eye out for a VE block, ours are starting to get pricey as people/wreckers understand their worth.

Will be interesting to see what style you will go for on the exterior, especially with the Silvia front now. Keep up the good work mate.

love this build

Cheers Callum

Haha theres no way the 20G will flow that much unfortunately, maybe half a chance with E85 Ethanol but like you guys, its pretty hard to get over here so pump gas it has to be. Going by the spec of the engine, and other around me on a 20G, I think I have half a chance at 420whp+, so around 325rwkw in your sense, but it'll be a pretty fun drive after being used to .9 bar on a standard T28! I thought Joel's and Adam's SR's made around 400hp on their TD06 setups?

Yeah, VE blocks aren't that common over here too. Probably because people over here are afraid of committing to building a car, they'd rather eat SR's rather than build one, same with VE head, I suppose if I saw the right model car being broken by someone who doesn't know the value of the head, Id definitely consider making him an offer for sure!

Exterior wise, I have 2 different routes I'm planning on. It'll definitely be a kit though, and not an OEM style like my old 13 but I now have some Bricks on their way from Japan soon :)

Joel's is 280rwkw on his TD06 and Adam's 400rwkw on his 2.2 with VE head and Borg Worner. Yours should slot nicely in the middle, and be a lot more driveable than Adam's. We had another guy here (Matt Lauder, FB page: Louda) who ran a VE headed SR making around 400rwkw on E85 and had continual engine issues. Interesting styling with his 180, worth checking out.

Good work on the bricks, i'm always paranoid about mine but touch-wood they stay in one piece. Been through a good 4-5 corner lights though but at $20 each it aint too bad.
