Just ordered pair of HKS 264 cams for vvti 1jz, has anyone fitted these with brian crower valve springs? I've spoke to someone who says it makes the vvt a lot noiser but didn't know if they are needed or you can run the cams with standard springs. Going to do valve stem oil seals to be safe. Any feed back would be a big help.

No mate havnt got the bc springs n retainers yet, only ordered the cams n pulley n belt yesterday. A wanted to know if what I was told was true about the bc springs putting a strain on the vvt system and making it a lot louder and evan if they were needed or you could run the cams with standard springs. I'd be doing the stem seals so springs have to come out anyway so it wouldn't be any extra work. Do you think there is any negative affects running the bc springs and retainers? Thanks for the help mate

With upgrading to a tighter spring and titanium retainers it is common to hear the valvetrain make more noise. I'm not too sure on them putting strain on the VVT system though..

Yes the camshafts and springs will work perfect. I take it you've got Brian Crower valve springs and retainers?

Why are you replying like this? Have you any experience of this at all?

I've no 1st hand experience of this but I know if you fit them it makes the car sound completely fucked and the springs don't work with the VVTi at all.

You're replying to tons of 'tech' questions on here lately with massively questionable answers, some of which are total bollocks. You do realise these shit answers may cost people a fuck load of wasted time and money if they listen to you?

Thanks for the link Phil, jus read that Stav was there when the 110 was getting mapped. What dya think Stav? What's best, just fit the cams with the standard springs n retainers and do VSS jus to be safe. Thanks for the help people

You would take it that BC sell a product that works. And if the springs don't agree with the VVTI system surely they would have to do something about that?

But no I haven't got any first hand experience. But I did only say that you can hear the valvetrain make more noise.

As for replying to 3 'Tech' questions I am simply using knowledge that I have either gained from this forum or talking to other people. Because isn't that what forum's are about? Talking, learning and sharing what you know? So surely instead of telling me that I have shit answers and could cost people money. Wouldn't you be better off telling people what they should really do..

So just because someone sells it, you think that it's good? Fact is, most stuff for sale in the tuning world is utter shite.

You think BC have even seen a VVTi 1JZ? I think you will find a LOT of these direct replacement 'upgrade' manufacturers have never seen and certainly never tested the products in their fucking lives, as it's pretty easy to make a direct copy but stronger, and that's what BC have done, but they clearly didn't realise or expect it to make the car sound like a hunk of shit, and with no testing, never knew it'd happen.

I personally have bought two products, from MASSIVE names in the tuning industry, proper UK manufactures too, not some Chinese made shite like most big names are these days, which were miles from being correct, as they'd blatantly never seen the car/engine before, and just made an upgrade via the standard bits. One was cams, one was coilovers.

Telling someone it's good, when it's not, is not good advice.

But when 'knowledge' is wrong. Telling people it spreads more wrong, which makes more people say this wrong info like it's fact.
You didn't 'know' it, or it'd be correct.

And I did reply and say what is correct.

And stuff I don't know about, which to be fair is most stuff, I don't give 'advice' on, as it's likely to be incorrect bollocks if I don't really know.
