JZX100 insurance?

Right now I could afford to import a JZX100 non-turbo (1JZ-GE) w/ the 4spd auto. I’d be moving to this from a 60hp Polo and I was wondering if it is considered “fast” since it comes in as just under 200hp.

19, one year NCB.

From my understanding it would be cheaper and more plausible to insure through a specialist such as Brentacre, A-Plan, Chris Knott, etc.

Would it be reasonable to insure since it’s an auto, outputs sub-200hp, is naturally aspirated and isn’t a “sports car” per-say.

Not looking to drift it or anything for a few years, would be used as a daily driver (hence the auto)

It’s probably an unrealistic idea, but I’d really appreciate any advice & thoughts.

Many thanks.

Phone them up for a free quote. Before I imported my JZX I just called around for a speculative quote. Didn't need a reg only a model year and an idea in mind of what the condition mine would be and any work I'd do to it.

But from what I can gather from your posts I'd keep the Polo, save the money, rack up that no claims and then do it properly.

I work for flux quoting these sorts of vehicles and given what you've said I'd agree with the above youd be looking at a pretty pricey premium ncb makes a big difference so get that up a bit first.

Since I posted this I found out I’d need to save up a fair bit to even get the car on the road so I’ve decided on an IS200 SE if it’s cheaper to insure since it’s a lower-powered car than a Chaser :)
