KAAZ LSD help

SteveC200

Used to drift, now I don't.
Can anyone tell me what model car the KAAZ DAN2635 diff is for?

Matt_S has just got his diff through but is a little confused about the part number he has.

Ta.

Yeah, which is why we are confused.:wack:

We have worked out that DA is a 2 way and N is for Nissan so were almost there. We just dont know what nissan its for.

The R200 model number is the same on a load of Nissans. It would suggest that the Quaife diff would fit, but I'm not writing any cheques for one just yet.

I cannot see a DAN2635 in my catalogue.

Are you sure it's not SAN 2635 or DAN 2625?

May well be a discontinued model, when did you buy it?

Glen

Deffo DAN2635, well, thats what Matt told me.

Hes just bought it, got it shipped from the US.

What does the SAN2635 match up to then? Would be the same car but a 1.5 way.

Also, something might be worth considering depending how old the Kaaz site and Catalogues are.. Kaaz's older generation of LSD's have 8 friction plates, and they also do a new version called "Solid LSD" with 16 friction plates. Its not been out that long and so parts lists etc may not be updated?

I'll ask about :)

Hi Paz.

The catalogue I have includes all the Nissans going back to 1988 so I would assume that its upto date but like you said perhaps they have discontinued this particular model and therefore do not list it in there current catalogues.

I suppose this is the point of keeping old catalogues for this kind of reference. If you get no joy Paz let me know and I will ask my guys :) .

SAN 2635 fits GTS DE 32's with RB20 and 25, S13 CA18's, PS13 SR20DE/DET, S14 DE, S14 AT SR20DET, RPS13 SR20DE/DE the list goes on and on.

All the SAN2635's are 16 platers.

They also show the 8 platers as DAN2625 and DAN2745 so are showing the 'older' diff's.

I hope this is helping as my head hurts :D

Its a SAN 2635...

IIRC, I thought it said DAN, but I seem to remember SAN.... and thinking to myself, "did I tell Steve DAN or SAN???" :)

So, If its a SAN 2635 it will go in will it? Its a 2004 model, Serial number is something like.... "200000074" (i.e. theyve sold either lots and lots and lots, or about 74 :D)...

Cheers for all you help lads, can you just have a check Glen that its going to go in? Its a 1995 UK S14 Manual...
On the sitre they list them for Open diff, and early (94-96) and late (96-98) viscous cars...

Cheers.

Matt

Hi Matt, won't be home till later so if no one else can get you the info I'll sort it for you when I get home :) .

Right, it appears a SAN2635 fits a Japanese:

10/93 - 12/96 S14 SR20DE Auto or Manual
10/93 - 12/96 S14 SR20DET Auto

It also fits all the N/A Skyline GTS's some Manual and some Auto.
Also the S13 CA18DET and PS13 SR20DE/T Auto's or Manuals.

All this info is taken from a Japanese KAAZ catalogue so not sure how this does or doesn't relate to UK cars.

Hope this helps in someway though.

OK, After looking at the link Mitch put up, all the SANs are OPEN diff cars... You need a set of OE Viscous Output shafts to make it fit - which I have (and the fitter has spares aswell...)

Looks like I may be OK then....

Thanks everyone for your help - Ill let you know how I get on....:)

Best of luck mate:)

I'm getting Jason's old standard diff to replace my R32 one, and putting that one into my S14 diff for my S13.

RUNAROUND NOW!!!! (For any of you old enough to remember it:D)

Looking at that post again, the UK S14 (SR20DETs) Autos have the same ratio as the UK S13s (CA18DET). Dont know about the JDM cars though....

Woohoo!

Just got this back from SPL:

Hi Matt,

The part number for the differential is correct, the SAN diffs are the new
24 plate diffs, the DAN diffs are the older 12 plate diffs.

24 PLATES!!! Fookin hell!

(Err, so what difference is that gonna make to the performance and driveabilty of the diff?

it won't be a pussy spec diff

as a rule the more plates the better, more aggresive. but then there are exceptions, my MZ has fewer plates than the RS but is more aggresive.

you can always take plates out if you want:)

Hmm, thats kinda contrary to what I thought.. I thought the more plates it had the more gradual the take up would be...
