Hey, met up with someone in the services at M1/A43? N.Hampton on my way south saturday... ...they were driving a metalic green AE86, and heading to JAE I guess. (sorry didnt catch your name)

Anyway, been working in Japan for a while and returned to UK a year or so ago... ...did some drifting over there (not v.good though) and spent a lot of time around drifting as my house mate was mad into it. Didnt realise there was a drift scene in the UK, but got pointed in this direction...

Dont have a driftable car at the moment, but thinking about selling my project motor when its done and building something suitable...

Welcome, damn lucky working in japan, id love to go there for a few years.
The site is very new and much needed to I expect it to be very lively soon.

Ahhh that would of been Pazza you bumped into. He was on his way to JAE, he did mention bumping into you.

Im sure he will be along in a bit.

he said this was a new site...

used to work in yokohama for a company called marakatsu. Their main business was importing/exporting cars, but also did some tuning work for turbocharged and N/A engines.. ..the favourite thing at the time was fitting throttle boddies to GT-S Vipers!

I was over there designing structural components; strut braces, roll-cages, engine cradles, etc., and also desiging/developing a super 7 style chassis for them as the basis for a track day car. Back in the UK now designing hydraulic systems.. ..if anyone needs any valves, hoses, tubes, etc., let me know, will see what I can do :)

PS... Nice FD Mr Pulsating star.. ..still missing my Turbo II :(

Hi mate, thanks for visiting! It was me who you met at the Service station, cool chatting with you :) Hope you decide to get a drift car mate, i reckon youd enjoy it.. Not quite as much as in Japan but its still fun :)

Cheers mate

will get the cosworth finished and sold so theres some space in the lock-up, then gonna have to think about building something (design a spaceframe and go from there I think... ...either bike or rotary engine, and try to keep it all under 500kgs! )

will try to make it to some drift events as a spectator over the next couple of months if theres some on close by

Hey Catboy

Blimey, working in the automotive Tuning industry in Japan! Is that not close to heaven??? I put a post up in the Chat section coz I'm wanting to visit Japan next year. Anytime U want to tell me of your experiences drop me a PM

Regards

Andy Carey

Hi Catboy :) So do you still have any connections in rollcage fabrication? I'm after an 8point as are a few others :)

I'm also after all braided hoses and connectors to remove the ABS and all copper lines, and fit a hydraulic handbrake, is that something that you could help with? PM me if you like

cheers

Phil

um, roll-cage wise, if you want a custom one I would recommend a guy called John Rathbone who is near Stoke... Do a web-search for "rathbone racing"

he builds roll cages, exhaust systems, full spaceframes, etc for beetles and drag cars, and his fabrication is amazing; he's not massively expensive either, and can make cages out of steel, chromoly, aluminium, whatever you want. He might do you a deal if a load of you wanted similar cages

As for brake stuff, I dont really know; I still have a couple of contacts over there, but more in the car-sales side of things, and we dont get involved with braided brake lines here; brake lines on our machines are high-pressure hydraulic hoses - about 300bar.. ..I would say its probably easier just to build a system up with parts from somewhere like demon-tweeks or something

cheers m8

I've just tried to open his website, and bloody websense has blocked it :( apparently because somewhere on the site it uses the word 'boner' lol :D

If you go to Rathbones phil, giz a shout. Its like, 10 mins from my house... And Rathbones beetles are INSANE. haha.

Paz

he's a top bloke... he's my bosses mate from home, and yeah, his VW's are mental... ...check out the quality of his welding while you're there
