Locations to learn drifting

So I've searched and searched, but nobody seems to give a straight answer as to which sort of location is better to learn drifting in. I live 30 miles from the nearest city so I'd only be able to even go drifting maybe one day a week. There is a speedway track there, but I'm not sure they'd let me. Any input from experienced drifters?

on a track, preferably with others who know what they are doing and are willing to help you out and give some pointers or ride along and help you with technique.

You won't learn jack messing around on public roads or in empty industrial units, only thing you'll get the hand of is how to pick up tickets.
