well today i done my oil and filter change, decided on 15w-40 gtx mineral for high milage engines, also done my rocker cover gaskets as they were leaking,

rocker cover gaskits, there were 3 parts to this, the 2 that go under the actual covers but i couldnt find anywhere to put the 3rd one weird :?

oil filter was a bit of a bastid as well, had to resort to hammer and chissel for that as well

now to the annoying bit, removed the remainder of my aircon, the pump, the previos owner started it and never finished the job, i found out today, thre last bolt was the one underneath the pump, and the head was rounded, tried the good old method of hammer and chissel, this didnt work so resorted to brutal and extreme measures, can anyone guess what that was

yeah the angle grinder lol

was a bit worried about setting my car on fire lol

Brave going at that with an angle grinder! I hear for stiff oil filters a good way is to stick a screwdriver through it, and then use that to twist it off :)

For stuck oil filters I use a big mikalor clamp (its a heavy duty t bolt style clamp for hoses). Slip it over, tighten it up then use the protruding T bolt to give you leverage, works every time and even in tight spaces. These claps are so tough I actually managed to distort some IC pipework a while back when I tightened the clamp to much.

I was going to say. Dude, always use axle stands and jack on a stable surface. Car on face hurts! Fuck!

The screwdriver method works for me.

it was only on gravel temporaraly it got switched to the other side.

trying to find a high lift jack for a decent price,

and where the hell do u put axle stands on the front of a corolla i couldnt really see anywhere to put them , think i mght buy set of ramps lol

now the aircon is out you can get to the oil filter real easy

i did use the hammer and srewdriver in the end

Halfruads were doing a special a few weeks ago, 2 axel stands, 2 ramps, and a hydrollic trolly jack for £40 dont know why I didnt get it.. probably because i was SKINT.
