looking for a suede wheel + S14 boss....

I'm pretty happy with my car now. I've done all the basics and although it's not very heavily modded, I'm happy that the important things are sorted (LSD, suspension, bucket seat+ harness) :)
I'm fed up of the standard wheel though. It's too far away when you're strapped in and far too shiny for my liking, wearing gloves doesn't make it any better either :(
So I need a wheel and boss for an S14, suede is best I think in terms of grip.
I had a quick scout of ebay a few weeks back, but nothing jumped out at me.
Can anyone suggest somewhere to get a wheel and S14 boss? Ideally as cheap as possible,

I have an alcantara one on my s13, it is pretty nice to hold and it a fairly cheap make I believe.

I believe the guy before me picked it up cheap from a halfrauds sale so could always try them.
 
Demon Tweeks have a good range of steering wheels, decent motorsport type wheels not just gay multicoloured shiny things.

I'm not 100% on this but I think the only boss available for the S14 is from Nismo. Something to do with the airbag. I've heard a rumour that an s13 boss can be bodged on but I dont know any details. Theres one for sale on sxoc. http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=102846
 
the S13 one goes on no problem. but the indicators dont turn themselves off. i can live with that for the price difference in nismo and mountney! nismo is about £120, mountny is £30 ...

oh and you need a special tool to get the airbag out... or a hammer and chizel :D
 
cheers guys, I'm perfectly happy to live without self cancelling indicators and with the airbag light for a £90 saving :)

I've got the special airbag removing attachment too so no problems there :) Certainly won't be bashing it out with a chisel :eek:
 
Maybe you dont care, but airbag light on is an MOT fail I think.

Im not sure if some sticky tape over it is good enough or not to get through.

But I think they check if it comes on at startup, since it's SUPPOSED to light up to begin with. A bit of airbig light rewiring perhaps? :) Got any other lights that stay on for a few seconds then go out?
 
yes they are SUPPOSED to check if the light comes on with the ignition, just like they're supposed to check that my car has a catalytic convertor fitted ;)
but yeah, it would be pretty easy to rewire it to the battery charge light :)

Had a quick look on demon tweeks and I'm favouring the Sparco Safari 2 spoke cos it's quite deeply dished which will bring the wheel closer to my grubby mits :) just wish it was cheaper than £80 + VAT and delivery......

ive put my car through 2 legit MOT's with the airbag light flashing it shouldnt be a problem :thumbs:

it used to be called the Sparco Safari and came with anodized spokes, it's now called the Sparco 215 and is all black. DT stock the older safari one it seems.

When it was said that an S13 boss could be 'made' to fit an S14, what was meant? How much work is involved? It's just the standard wheel is too large and feels rubbish (plus I want an excuse to get seats/harness/cage :D )

You sure about a 90mm dish? Remember the boss will probably bring it forward a 1/2" minimum as well.

hmmmmm, not exactly sure, no..... but it's definitely too far away at the moment..... so that's gonna bring it like 4" closer?
Need to do some sitting in the car with a tape measure :)
 
Just ordered a Nismo boss from Bren (Apex). £100 delivered...

I have an S13 boss to sell which will compensate a little I guess. Just dont fancy feckin around with the Airbag lump bit and then hacking the S13 boss, then trying to get the hoen to work etc etc
