Manifold to turbo woes

Had the Manifold to turbo gasket die a couple of weeks ago, bought a new stainless steel manifold and gasket kit. fitted it last week, was proper chuffed but it has now gone again
Im going Pod on Wednesday so want to get it sorted asap! probably wont have time to get one ordered and delivered as Im gonna be fitting a new clutch before pod too!

Can it be run without a gasket?
Any diy methods whilst I wait for a genuine Nissan one and dw bolts to come though? I heard copper sheeting but not sure on the matter, deffo don't want to use high temp silicone from hearing stories of the melting into the turbo etc

I never run a gasket with cast manifolds, but you have to with stainless really.

Probably blown as the flange is warped, as stainless manifolds tend to be utter shite.

Only use Genuine nissan gaskets. Aeroquip nuts and genuine studs with locking tabs. Also if you are still having issues try putting 4 tack welds from turbo to manifold to stop any studs stretching. I never had any issues after I did all of the above, also worth making sure you have a flexi in the exhaust system, and gearbox-downpipe mount.

I have seen some of your previous posts on the matter, cant quite believe not having a gasket to work. But as I need it done today and no gasket to hand im going to give it a try. will probably put the old cast manifold back on, no gasket and put a couple of tack welds on for safe measure

Well unless I spent the last 15 odd years in a dream world and imagined the OEM vehicles that come with no turbo gasket, never mind the countless others I removed after they blew and never had a problem since, i'd be inclined to believe it.

I didn't even know turbo/manifold joins even sometimes HAD gaskets for about 5 years of owning a turbo car with no problems, it was only when I got in to shitty Jap cars I realised they existed. And had the fun of them blowing.

I had the gasket go after every track day ended up getting a gasket from garage d and was fine for 6 months till I had it welded together

managed to get a genuine Nissan gasket and locking tabs in time for pod :) fitted it last week with a bit of weld between the manifold and turbo as well for precaution. should it go again its getting completely welded up. cheers for the help

My mate swears by nismo copper gasket, he used it after blowing other ones and after a engine change he passed it onto me and I'm running it in my 14.

weld. weld it on and never have a problem again. Used to have the same issue until I did that and never had any problems since.

Also, used the downpipe exhaust hanger and make sure your exhaust has a flexi section in it.
